More foundation questions, but on a slightly different vein

I don't wear it, though did in the past. I'm late 20s, and was wondering:

  • how many of you wear foundation, and how long have you worn it for (not as in, "since I put it on this morning")
  • What do you recommend in the tinted moisturiser/foundation world?
  • Could I just get a foundation and mix it with my regular moisturiser et, voila, tinted moisturiser?

I've been thinking about this, cos I know some girls who have GORGEOUS skin, but I'm not sure if it's just nature (they're all really stylish, make-up wearers. They can't all have such good genes) or they're using some fantabulous foundation.

Fabulous foundation should make your skin look great but be barely perceptible, imo. ie not caked on with obvious tide marks around face

Foundation brushes are supposedly very good for a flawless finish. Personally, I just squirt a bit onto my hand and then apply using my fingers.

I have been wearing foundation since my early 20's. I tend to wear tinted moisturiser from May until September then switch to foundation.

I wear Chanel bases. They are the best for my skin which tends to be dry-ish with tendency to break during pms times.

Chanel Vitalumiere foundation and Chanel tinted moisturiser are really great. They are expensive but a little goes a long way.

Don't see why you couldn't mix a tinted moisturiser the way you describe but I haven't tried it so can't recommend

Thanks! I have heard the Chanel one suggested here millions of times. Might see if I can get a sample and try it out (very sensitive skin).

I'm 23, used it since I was 21. I also tend to use tinted moisturiser in the summer and have lightened Estee Lauder individualist with either moisturiser or spotlight. Best mixed on the back of your hand with a foundation brush.

My current favourite is the new Estee Lauder mineral range.

My tip for getting it to look flawless and stays - well there are 2 - use Laura Mercier's primer and apply it using a brush. Then finish it with a very light translucent powder to set it and minimise pore size.

I have been wearing proper foundation since my early 20s. During the day I used to use tinted moisturiser, still do sometimes in the summer.

I have recently discovered Clinique, Superfit Makeup and find that using powder makes it stay on better and look great.

A good tinted moisturiser is Jill Sander.

Been wearing foundation since mid twenties. I used to used el cheapo high street brands, now have upgraded myself to more expensive versions with markedly imrpoved results.

I tried a brush for a while, I looked like a painted lady. Flawless finish yes, but too think imo.

I now use By Terry foundation (from Space NK) and can recommend Chantecaille and Laura Mercier as well. I really liked the formulation for Chanel Vitalumiere however I could never get a decent colour match - I have very pale albeit pinkish toned skin, the Chanel ones were too yellow.

I have mixed foundation with moisturiser - it gives a very light coverage.

My advice is you get what you pay for, so invest in a good one, and also try Space NK if you haven't already, they are far more friendly and knowledgable than your standard House of Fraser beauty counter assistant.

Hi,
I am in my mid thirties and have been wearing foundation since my late teens. I have very dry skin and red veins on my cheeks so have stuggled to get a foundation that would not dry out my skin but would still have coverage.

I have also tried brushes, sponges etc but have reverted back to my finger.

My favourites are :

Giorgio Armani Silk Luminous Foundation- a fantastic medium coverage but a little more expensive than others.

Bobbi Brown Moisturising Foundation- I find the coverage a bit heavy but ok for nighttime.

Currently using a mix of Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturiser ( the smell alone lifts the spirits in morning) and a stick concealer. I am a sahm so need to look presentable but not professional ifykwim

Some other brands that I would recommend is Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser, Estee Lauder Double Wear and Smashbox.

I have also tried mineral make up and bought the whole set but never got the hang of applying it at home.

HTH's
