paddingtonbear1 · 08/10/2009 12:07

mainly the elastic waistband and a bit more stretch?
I tried on some jeggings in DP, they looked awful on me. Also tried leggings in New Look, they were comfy but I'd have to wear a very long top!

PVish · 08/10/2009 12:08

yes top long

check

fishie · 08/10/2009 12:09

i am jeggings lover. no zip so no pouch tum.

Blackduck · 08/10/2009 12:09

I don't know what the difference is, but I wouldn't wear either

Snowtiger · 08/10/2009 12:10

Not only do I hate jeggings themselves, I hate the word so much I can barely bring myself to write it.
Gaaah.
Horrible things.

BunnyLebowski · 08/10/2009 12:12

I'm with Snowtiger.

For anyone who wears the disgusting items get someone to take a photo and have a look at it in 10 years time. I bet you'll cringe at what a big old fashion victim you were.

PVish · 08/10/2009 12:12

but fashion is fun surely - to date us, other wise we would all wear medival smocsk still!!

They are a slim fitting pair fo jeans.

PersonalClown · 08/10/2009 12:12

Good god I love mine.
No fat belly, no crumpled up jeans sticking out of my boots, they actually make my legs look better and for some unknown reason Dp can't keep his hands off me when I've got them on!
Always wear jumper dresses etc. Have to as I'm 6 ft so anything short would look stupid.

cremolatorium · 08/10/2009 12:13

just no

PVish · 08/10/2009 12:14

they do have the cofort factor of a nice pair of pj bottoms

OP posts:
leolantern · 08/10/2009 12:15

yes but I can't wear skinny jeans either so would not touch jeggings with a barge pole [thunder thigh emoticon]

fishie · 08/10/2009 12:15

i agree pc, no idea why people are scared of them. i hate zip fly jeans, why do we need them, no penis here.

brokenspacebar · 08/10/2009 12:41

I think jeggings were created for women in their late thirties and over to ease us into middle age, and who find jeans uncomfortable. I love the elasticated waistband, they fit comfortably inside boots, but mine do seem to need pulled up lots. I want to buy some from Topshop or dp's to see if they stay up better.

NorkilyChallenged · 08/10/2009 12:50

I am actually in my late thirties so fit your description BSB but I have always found jeans uncomfy. I didn't really wear them until after I had children when I need lots of scrabbling-around-on-the-floor clothes and jeans were just easy to find in Tesco or whatever... I have always hated anything round my waist and all the seams and fastening just dig in and are generally unpleasant

Am very tempted by idea of jeggings. However, I have some leggings but I am struggling to find things that are truly LONG enough to be acceptable (given the whole camel toe issue). Got some lovely tunics from Joe Brown but they are too short for leggings/jeggings, so am wearing with (incredibly uncomfy) jeans.

FlyingMonkey · 08/10/2009 13:33

Jeggings. Wrong on so many levels. At least when your thighs are the size of mine.

Olisqueen · 08/12/2009 11:17

Just replied on a different thread about Tesco jeggings. The elastic in mine have gone after only being worn a couple of times. I got size 12 but can fit into size 10 tesco jeans so I haven't over streched them.

Tidey · 08/12/2009 11:27

The problem is that they are leggings. Tart it up anyway you want to, they are nasty, stretchy, out of date, elasticated arse clingfilm. Why have they got a zipper/fly thing printed on them? Who is it fooling? Why not just buy some blue dye and paint your legs?

And why does the word jeggings make me so irrationally cross?

NotanOtter · 08/12/2009 11:31

i have ditched jeggings
they started to make me feel sick
laggy waistband and all 'rouched'

go to top shop get proper denim skinny jeans - feel a million times sexier - also not limited to arse covering tops as your bum actually looks nice - not like a grannies!

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 08/12/2009 11:36

and i am assuming that all you jeggings lovers are a miniscule size -2 or something....im a 12/14. nuff said.

its a NOOOOOO for me.

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 08/12/2009 11:39

Thing is if you want to do the current fashion AT ALL (ie long boots and long tops/short dress), then jeans and trousers just don't work very well, especially if you're not skinny to start with.

You have to have FLAT leggings/jeggings (ugh), in order to a) tuck legs into long boots without looking like a weird golfer or pirate b) avoid looking lumpily pregnant around the waist.

Admittedly I don't see the point of the fake jeans stitching up around the arse and tummy, as those bits should be covered by your long top anyway (unless you're about 14 and a size 6).

NotanOtter · 08/12/2009 13:16

why are jeans uncomfortable once you hit forty?? i dont understand this?

jeggings are uncomfy - when i mistakenly wore a pair for a week they literally virtually dropped down and needed hoiking up allthe time

i like jeans - i lkie them rock hard and rigid

minko · 08/12/2009 13:48

Where do you get comfy jeggings? I bought some from M+S and they were a disaster. They slipped down at the waist and rode up at the knee at the same time. All the gathered up material behind my knee made it sore and they were completely uncomfortable. Am hoping I can return them (without receipt) on the grounds that they are crap...

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 08/12/2009 13:51

Dunno - I find it REALLY hard to find jeans and casual trousers that fit. It's a bit easier when I'm on the thinner end of my spectrum (size 14 ish) but 16/18 is hard. Nothing seems to be the right proportions. I guess that's not particularly to do with age though, just lardiness!

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 08/12/2009 14:06

I have the black Tesco jeggings (about £12 I think) - they are comfy except for being a bit big around the waist, so I've added a button so I can do them up tighter.

They would probably be okay for apple shapes.

SCargot · 08/12/2009 15:14

oTTER oyu haevt he wrong ones
i can wear mine for two days with no bagging
