Help me find a cool dress for DD 4 to wear to my Best Mate's Wedding

BFF is getting married in a few weeks. I want to find a lovely dress for DD and thought I'd turn to you for inspiration.

There will be lots of other little girls the same age there, so it's going to be lots of fun, but it's also meant that every time I've popped into Monsoon I've been struck by the thought that every other mum is probably in there pondering just how excessive 55 quid is on some adorable sparkly/net/pleated/satin ribboned number is for their DD.

I'd like to find something somewhere else. I loved www.josephm.com/childrens-store-1/baby-girl-2-4-31/dresses-115/little-joule-blue-croquet-seaside-pri nt-338608.htm these style of dresses from Joules this summer but was so strapped for cash back then I couldn't justify it and now of course, they are sold out.

I also like these ones here and here from Monsoon.

I will spent up to 50 quid I think as it can get use as a party dress from now on and through Christmas. Any delights for less than that, bring them on!

I looked at that site starwhores, but they're a bit princessy for my tastes, though I agree DD would heart them muchly

starwhores · 04/10/2009 17:43

Okay.... on a mission now!
what about Boden?

starwhores · 04/10/2009 17:45

SycsUpGoreAndBleedsBile · 04/10/2009 19:04

Ladies, you are good as gold. Starwhores, yes Boden gets a big tick.

Puffling, lovely but too casual I think.

Cookie - love the squirrel and bird print cord ones but for day rather than the wedding (curses on you for making want to spend more)

lulahrose · 04/10/2009 19:05

I don't know if this had been suggested:

debenhams

cookielove · 04/10/2009 19:30

i am totally loving that site, am so glad i am broke, and babyless, otherwise i'd be in trouble

starwhores · 04/10/2009 19:34

Oooh good as I get almost and very weirdly annoyed if people don't like my suggestion, bit like doing that extra homework and the teacher not mentioning it.
Oh and I'm 35 years old....

SycsUpGoreAndBleedsBile · 04/10/2009 19:42

I feel that way too starwhores

SycsUpGoreAndBleedsBile · 04/10/2009 20:33

Ladies - I've found a nice site with a great sale on. What do you make of these? I think I know which one I like best but would love your thoughts.

Good reductions, no?

cookielove · 04/10/2009 20:43

i can't see any reductions, i think 3 is ur favourite, they don't seem weddinging glam though

SycsUpGoreAndBleedsBile · 04/10/2009 20:50

Cookie, yes, 3 is favourite. But you are right...where are the sparkles for my DD

I actually think the next outfit and the Boden dress are at the top of the list.

cookielove · 04/10/2009 20:54

yay, i love being right

shopalot · 04/10/2009 21:04

I am going to a chistening at end of October so have been doing the dress search too. I found a gorgeous teal one with sequins on for £14 in Tesco. It really is gorgeous. But I know you said teal isn't your daughters colour.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 04/10/2009 21:05

Hello lovely

Fancy seeing you here, Syc.

I like 1 and 3. You could always sparkle them up with a monsoon-type glitzy shrug/cardy and party shoes. And, hair accessories and handbag, of course.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 04/10/2009 21:07

ps. Have you looked in the expensive shops on Dev road and the terrace?

cookielove · 04/10/2009 21:08

SycsUpGoreAndBleedsBile · 04/10/2009 21:53

Hello Desperate! Got your text - so pleased the cakes went down well.

Yes, popped in T's. They have a really nice one but it's 86 quid and it's sort of plain grey/silver. Very classy but can't imagine DD getting excited about it.

DH likes 1 too, but it is actually not in her size, grrr.

Right, off to click Cookie's links. x

starwhores · 05/10/2009 12:52

What did you choose?
[holds out an apple]

SycsUpGoreAndBleedsBile · 05/10/2009 13:28

Ha ha. I haven't yet. But I'm going to look at the next outfit on Oxford St today!

starwhores · 05/10/2009 16:44

Does the winner get notified by email with a copy of their certificate?????

SycsUpGoreAndBleedsBile · 05/10/2009 22:05

Yes. And photo of the outfit signed by DD
