Short Uggs with knee length (or slightly shorter) tea dresses......what do we think?

I am considering purchasing some chestnut short Uggs. However, am wondering if they only look good with skinny jeans. I have far too many pairs of shoes which only get worn occasionally because they only go with a particular thing.

Most of my winter wardrobe is made up of tea dresses. Would uggs look awful with a tea dress and opaques/leggings?

(BTW.....why are they called tea dresses???? )

one in, one out ????

eh ?

velvet rope outside the shop like a 'smart' members only club, restricting numbers of those inside the shop. Only letting people in as people left.Large queue of people outside a shop with not many customers inside. Presumably done to create a buzz but they lost my custom as parting with that amount of money is not something I'm prepared to do if I have to queue too!

I wonder if they do that kind of thing to make sure they only have people who are seriously considering buying them rather than just browsing out of boredom etc. Agree with you, Salvadory - would have made me walk away too.

Have decided to go with chestnut Uggs after all.

I have been checking out my current dark brown leather knee high boots and reckon they could do one final winter with a bit of love and affection and I can look for a replacement in January sales.

DH has offered to buy me Uggs as a (hopefully early) Christmas present.

Bailey Button or classic short?

My dd has button bailey uggs and they are really nice. Luckily they fit me too! I have tried them on with skirts and I think they look good.
I agree with the faff about one in/one out at ugg shop - it takes forever to try on different sizes and styles!

TULPE - I like the sound of tea dresses all layered up with short boots ....have been musing on such a look myself but am really struggling to find dresses that I like.
Have you seen any dresses around recently or is it that I should have bought the dresses in the spring/summer and am now too late?

louii · 03/10/2009 19:59

Friends have ordered from this site, am guessing its not genuine but who knows, have compared them against Uggs in the official shop and there is no difference, (that i can see)

Eshermummy - I have a wardrobe full of tea dresses from the summer but there are plenty about still in A/W ranges.

I bought a gorgeous floaty floral number from TK Maxx (made by Spirit...not heard of them) for £20 a week ago. Tis like something from Toast but a fraction of the price so it might be worth checking out your local store. It was in the "young fashion" section

I also have the ruched waist dress from Boden in moss green with purple flowers. It really does look fab on - very vintage looking (so I shall be v angry at any other woman in local vicinity who dares to wear!!)

Aside from those places, Top Shop, Warehouse and H&M are also worth a look, as is Outnet if budget allows.

I layer up my dresses with long sleeve tees and cardigans, leggings or opaques and boots. If your dress is light weight then a chunky knit cardi works really well. Kind of "land girl chic" . A skinny scarf can look great too or chunky beads/pearls.

Tulpe - how about these from Duo.

I have a pair and they are fleecy lined all the way down the leg and over the toes. Buy a pair of fleecy insoles and toasty toasty toasty toes.
And you can choose the calf width so that they are snug on your legs.

I don't really like Uggs but I have only really seen people wearing the cheapo high street versions and it just bugs me that they go all sloppy and look like slipper socks.

tulpe · 03/10/2009 20:16

Wow! Louii those are cheap! Surely they can't be genuine at that price?

Loving the chocolate Bailey Button ones too.
