yes by all means

  • fitted shirts under fitted jumpers or tank tops
  • short-sleeved prettier blouses with longsleeved tshirts under
  • long-sleeved tunicy shirts over vests or longsleeved tees

not sure how shortsleeved tuncy ones would work but that is due to my lack of visualisation rather than anything else

I wear my white and cream shirts all year

imo: cotton is a yes, linen-hmmm would have to say no.

wear what you want!

serenity · 30/09/2009 07:58

Flame beat me to it. If you want to wear it, wear it. Acceptable?

BonsoirAnna · 30/09/2009 08:00

Don't wear linen in winter - it's a summer fabric!

Cotton is fine, if it is "winter weight" rather than voile.

White is fine at any time of year.

FlameWithTooManyHormones · 30/09/2009 08:02

It is just a fabric

serenity · 30/09/2009 08:03

gets out Linen trousers just because

cocolepew · 30/09/2009 08:04

If you 'can't' wear white line tops my poor mum will walk around topless

Lulumama · 30/09/2009 16:05

I would let the temperature be your guide: if it's 20 degrees plus in October: why not?

stuffitllllama · 30/09/2009 16:24

yes, and soft old linen can be nice and warm, and if you can get the stains out, why not trews

not many people will be wearing white linen trews in winter, they could look nice with a wild warm sweater and some timberlands

PVish · 30/09/2009 16:43

i think no
i saw a woman looking nice in a long white shirt and cardigan
got mine out ( linen) and no it looked wrong
