I just started to think about this today (decided to pluck my own eyebrows instead of regular wax because I am pretty much skint after too much clothes shopping!). I am not certain I dare even add all mine up but how much do you spend each year in total on:

hair (cuts & colours):
waxing:
facials:
make up:

Before I had DD it was 1000 pounds on all that (including face products). Now I have far less time and less need for make up as I am not working at the mo.

Riven you could be a model they sometimes do that for nothing r very cheap it is all properly supervised they just let the trainee do your hair for you

purplepeony · 29/09/2009 19:39

Not really sure bit something like this:

Hair £60 x 7, plus 1 lot hightlights around £100
£500!!!

Beauty products around £300-400 as a guess- moisturiser is £30+ and night cream the same- times 3 each a year, make-up - around £100 tops.

Nothing else, apart from shampoo and body lotion etc.

lilacclaire · 29/09/2009 20:19

Crikey, about £250 on hair a year, about £500 on botox, have spent about spent about £500 on getting my red veins on my face zapped this year.
Make up is minimal spend, £30 a year?
Moisturiser is always a high spf usually reduced or on special offer not usually more than £5 a time.
I take supplements that cost about £120 per year.
Oh and i've just bought the ipl machine from boots at £250.

Oops sounds quite a lot

dp doesn't know about the botox or red vein treatment......

choosyfloosy · 29/09/2009 20:32

hair (cuts & colours): nothing
waxing: nothing
facials: nothing
make up: about £25 a year

(all this in the last 2 years - before dh was self-employed and when I was working, probably about £670 a year).

bebesequin · 29/09/2009 20:59

Hair about £600 a year
facials hair removal etc do my own so very little
Spend a lot on hair products about £800 a year
Make up not much maybe £150 it's the other bits that add up -face masks cleanser fake tan nail polish etc but hey I work I earn I'm worth it

monkeysmama · 29/09/2009 21:13

I've just started thinking about it and am a bit .

Have my hair cut every 2 months at £85 a pop, eyebrow threading is £3 every 3 weeks, but I have an addiction to beauty products and am not admitting (even to myself) the amount I spend on them.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 29/09/2009 21:55

Haircuts £200 a year
Facials nothing although I do have the odd massage and pedicure - £150 a year max
Make-up about £30 a year
Moisturiser and other face/skin 'products', shampoo and conditioner are my downfall - probably £500 a year would be a conservative estimate.

Bleh · 29/09/2009 22:37

Riven - I would second Bodeniites on the hair model suggestion. Two of the best ever haircuts I have had in my life were as a hair model. The first cost me £5, the second was for free and at Aveda (normally £70 upwards). The only downside is that they can be slower than normal haircuts, but if it's free, and you feel like being pampered, it's worth it.

DuelingFanjo · 29/09/2009 22:38

erm. If I have my haircut about £50 a year I recon.

elliott · 29/09/2009 22:40

Haircuts/dye only. about £30 a month I think. Don't really do 'beauty' or 'makeup'.

happilyeverafter · 29/09/2009 23:35

My bf is a hairdresser so my cut and highlights are always in exchange for dinners and handbag loans.

Have just done my sums and annually I spend:

£400 on nails
£90 on pedicures
£80 on waxing/threading

so £570 and then usually a couple on spa or alternative therapy treatments or massages which prob works out under £150/year.

The free haircuts is my saving grace

happilyeverafter · 29/09/2009 23:38

Oh and makeup probably around £100.

My main splurge are gorgeous lancome and Dior eye colours, radient touch (lasts bloody ages) and clarins foundation. The other stuff I am buy whatever takes my fancy as I need it and is often No7/rimmel/maybelline

tulpe · 29/09/2009 23:47

I feel so much better now

Hair: £120 for highlights cut & blowdry every 3 months, with £50 for cut inbetween, every 6 weeks-ish.

Mani/pedi: £30 a year? (not something I have done very often)

waxing: eyebrows cost me £10 every 2 weeks (I am positively werewolf like if left to nature!!)

Massage/facials: treat myself a few times a year.....would estimate about £150 as I tend to go for a whole spa day thing but always on a discount day .

Make up: about £100 a year. I always go for expensive foundation/base (Chanel, YSL) and cheaper eye make-up/lipsticks eg MAC, Rimmel, Max Factor. Although I absolutely adore Chanel lippy.....sigh

lavenderkate · 30/09/2009 00:05

Hair colour roots £40/month
Perfume £45 x2/yr
makeup creams etc £100/yr? it lasts ages
facial every 8 wks £40

total £910 /yr

Jeez why arent i a stunner then?

LetThemEatCake · 30/09/2009 01:07

Makes you think, this does....

Hair: £30 cut about every 2 months= £180
Facials: no
Waxing & threading: am terribly hirsute, so about £400-£500 a year, OMG!!!
Beauty products: £50-£100 year Inc hair products
Makeup: don't wear it. Eyeliner, mascara... Whatever's cheap at superdrug... £20??
Massage: yuk no way
Mani/ pedi: indulged a bit while pg cos of 'reaching' issues, so about £30 a month... But back to DIY now I reckon

tattycoram · 30/09/2009 08:12

I don't really spend money on anything other than hair cuts - £40 every couple of months. I did used to be a bit of a product junkie, but I never buy expensive things now, and really don't miss them. I probably buy a new £20 odd foundation once a year, and boots no 7 for mascaras and the like. I am still a terrible fritterer on cheap/reduced things though.

BlingLoving · 30/09/2009 09:00

Riven - how do you feel about home treatments? I am addicted to this website (which I found via MN) and treat myself regularly now. Because it's all 97p per item, you can order a few and then pick and choose.

I have to confess to being on the higher side of expenses.

Hair cut, colour and blow dry every 8 weeks is about £100 each time and I have highlights every second time at another £50 so that's about £750a year at least.

I do cheap mani and pedis and not that often so say another £120 on those.

I buy Clarins face products and they last forever but are pretty expensive so say another £300 a year.

Make up also lasts forever but I'd say at least another £150 a year.

That's about £1320. Wow. And I have a sneaky feeling I'm underestimating. But then, I work long hours, earn decent money and am still waiting for children so it's probably all worth it!
