M&S quietly ditch 90 day returns policy

Don't know if it's already been mentioned but just in case anyone was thinking of doing Christmas shopping early at M&S, it might be worth knowing they've changed their long-standing returns policy.

Got caught foul of this myself the other week.

35 days. Caught me by surprise too. But there is small print that says you can still have a refund after 35 days.

Still reasonable and in line with other stores, but M&S used to have a no deadline returns policy, then 90 days and now 35 days, but there's been very little information & quite a number of people have been caught out if the complaints in the returns queue was anything to go by!

I just thought if MNers were going to do some early Xmas shopping there, they don't want to get caught out.

Returned DS' unworn and still tagged school coat last week as it was too small - with the receipt - and was told it was too late to return it by 2 days or even exchange it, there was nothing they could do.

I'm sure she was wrong but she was adamant and surprisingly rude.

I'm slightly to say that dh was so hacked off he just rejoined to queue, went to a different cashier, told her it was an unwanted gift, had no receipt, and she gave him a credit note.

Thankyou! I was going to get my Mum some clothes for Christmas that she could return if she wants. (I live in Australia) I even have it on my calendar when to order them. I would have never have noticed.

Can't even get mine into the shops, let alone mastermind a plan like that .

I wish! When we go shopping I have to ensure there's enough boy's toys for him drool over.

Just bumping in case anyone didn't realise like me and half the queue in M&S.

I was caught out by pesky M&S. I was one day late returning a pair of shorts. The cashier refused to give me a refund. I asked her very nicely to take pity on me. She relented, but said she could only give me the sale price back, even though I'd paid full price (this was for school uniform, which I bought at the start of the holidays while they actually had it in store). I asked to see the manager. The manager did then give me a full refund, along with a stern word on how I was Never To Do It Again. That'll teach me.
