What do you wear everyday if you work at home?

I am a freelance consultant. I work 4 days a week from my office at home. I'm only occasionally out at meetings etc.

I realise I have got into a sloppy habit of jeans/ T-shirt every day, as

a) it's comfortable, and
b) there's nobody around to see/ criticise etc.

But then at 3.15 I have the school run.

Ho hum.

All the mums are there in their Fat Face tunics and leggings, or smart work clothes, or skirts and colourful cardies...

This is the sort of stuff I would wear if I was going out/meeting with friends or something, but not for sitting at my desk all day!

Do I need a 'capsule working at home' wardrobe??

What would be in it?

oooh noooo - I would never stoop to tracky bottoms (unless going to the gym first thing)...

Winter is coming. Get yourself a nice pair of boots, nice coat and a few colourful scarves and nobody on the school run need know what's underneath.

I feel I should defend my tracky bottoms! My non-pg ones are actually lovely grey yoga pants by Manuka (wistful )

... and my current ones (which fit sooooo comfortably over my bump and are nice and warm) are cheapo but still nice - straight legged, black, not a stripe or logo in sight. Stylish casual jersey pants, if you will hahah .

We're not talking shell suits or elasticated ankles here girls!

I am a huge advocate of the "getting dressed up to go nowhere" idea .

I don't work from home as a freelance anything......am SAHM and have been for 9 years. I always wore jeans, tees etc. Very boring, imo - especially 7 days a week.

Over the last couple of years I have really changed my attitude and wardrobe. I don't save things for an occasion. I have fine tuned my make up & hair routine to a manageable 10 minutes in the mornings. It makes me feel more in control and "together" when I make the effort.

Of course, I still have my jeans & tees days but like MightyToosh says, make sure even your basics (and cheapy things ) are nice and you will feel so much better even when an effort is too much

Usually jeans and on top a t-shirt/cardi combo, or a longer tunic top/jumper dress type thing (usually the latter as now pg). In summer, the same but with a floaty tunic or minidress type top. I'm more likely to wear a proper skirt/dress and tights at the weekend or for going out. Boots in winter, birkenstocks or converse in summer.

I'm a bit bored of the jeans and want to try wool/suit-type trousers, but leaving that till next year now.

I very rarely have to go to meetings and if I do I panic - I don't really do smart. Especially with shoes as I can't get posh/girly shoes to fit. They just get a very slightly more polished version of the scruffbag (eg I brush my hair)

I'm in jeans and T-shirt and converses or flat shoes every day. sometimes a long skirt.

In winter it will be thick jumpers, jeans and ugg boots - I hate being cold and my job means sitting at the pooter for hours every day only moving my fingers.

Live in rural Brittany, am always trendier than most of the mums in playground. I never buy clothes in France - check stuff out on the internet and then send DH to shops in the UK to bring it back for me. It's polyester heaven over here.

I've started doing the flylady thing too, and am really liking the fact that it's motivated me to put my makeup on every morning, I never used to and always felt really scummy. Nowadays, I actually feel like I did when I used to get up and go to the office, it's made a real difference coming down at 7.00 all dressed and made up.
