Which shops are having a good season?

Walked past Monsoon this morning and thought it looked awful - cheap horrible polyester chiffon-type fabrics, maximum use of unflatteringly blank blacks and pillar-box red. Is it better inside? Which shops are blossoming this autumn? I thought East was trying to look like Boden which didn't seem right either.

Agree with Whistles: it is spot on trend while still being friendly to the normal body (at least I think so, and I'm a puny 5'2"). While being a bit more expensive, I think it is better value because a)better made, and 2) will last a few seasons.

Sofa - am also 5'2 (size 12) but just can't get anything in Whistles to fit right.

Have bought some lovely stuff in Zara.

Agree about Ted Baker but it is way overpriced.

Pollyanna · 21/09/2009 19:16

I really like French Connection at the moment. But also covet some things in Jigsaw and Whistles for the first time in ages.

Bored with White Stuff and Gap. M&S and Boden uninspiring imo. I can't find anything in Gap to use my voucher on atm either (maybe a cardigan).

I bought some work clothes from Kew, but can't work out if I like them because Kew has got better clothes, or because I am more middle aged

janeite · 21/09/2009 19:17

Just looked Fat Face - hideous. It seems to be stocking toddler-style clothes in adult sizes.

Grisette · 21/09/2009 19:45

I like white stuff this season. Their tree print is really cool. Shame I can't afford ANY of it.

Grisette · 21/09/2009 19:46

Yes. Kew is beautiful. Ireally liked their lace type kint cardigan. Why is even their sale stuff so dear!

noddyholder · 21/09/2009 19:49

I like french connection and jigsaw too this year.Hate fat face but have never liked it really.H&M old bag section has been a revelation to me full of lovely things in nice fabrics and colours.

janeite · 21/09/2009 19:52

Old bag section? H&M drives me mad.

noddyholder · 21/09/2009 20:21

We have a huge new one and there is a more expensive 'older' bit which is really good

bigTillyMint · 21/09/2009 21:38

Noddy, what is the "older" bit called please?

I know it's not the 9 - 13 bit, but....

noddyholder · 21/09/2009 21:43

I don't know but it has tailoring and pictures of older models

Must look out for it when I next go shopping, while DD goes to 9-13 bit!
