What's the best way to de-pill a jumper?

I have one of those zuzzy things but they are fecking useless IMO. Should I just shave it, or is that crazy?

I've shaved before. Very gently. Seemed to do the trick.

Or sit in front of the telly for an hour pulling all the bits off. Which is probably better. I'd have thought.

Whenever I pull off a pill, I just seem to create a new fuzzy area.
