just being nosy

I've just had a major sort out and found a dress that I still love to bits that I bought in 1996. It is debenhams own brand and only cost about £40 I think - I'm amazed how well it has lasted. I think it is the only thing left from my student days.

I'm wondering what sorts of things do really last a long time - we keep being told that things are "investment buys" but is it really the expensive stuff that lasts?

I threw out a t-shirt last week that I bought from Etam in 1992. Nothing special, just a bog standard brown t-shirt. Was beginning to look a bit faded.

I have an evening top that is lovely and sparkly, my mum purchased it in 1962 when she moved to London.

I have worn it several times with black trousers on an eve out and had a few "where did you buy that as iI want one"

I also wear my grans wedding ring and I also have the receit rom 1938 and a voucher from the shop to get a ree clean - I wonder if the shop is still there

I have my bridesmaid dress from 1983.

In terms of things that fit me and I wear, a couple of big t-shirts probably oldest. One a free promo Pepsi t-shirt I got given when working in a cash and carry when I was a student, about 1995, and another t-shirt bought for my birthday around the same sort of time by a close friend. I wear both to sleep in.

A red sun dress bought from Top Shop in 1992 when I was 14. Still wear it occasionally.

I have a navy blue hooded sweatshirt that I used to play netball in 17 years ago - when I am having a lazy (completely unstylish) day, I love putting it on for extreme comfort!

My mum's fake fur coat. It's beautiful and dad bought it her in the 80s. Mum died when I was 18 and I absolutely teasure it.

I'm saving stuff for my daughter. I hope she appreciates them.

I think I still have my biker jacket from 1991

I've got a black velvet long fitted coat that my great-grandfather (a tailor) made for my grandmother in about 1940-something.
