but I'm not really enjoying the knitted bit at the top Someone must have the perfect pair they have linked to previously/bought. I need a slim leg.

timberland ones are lush

frye ones look too short in the leg

i hate it when the boot stops at the fattest part of the calf

Cybil, I like the buckles and bows ones- they are rather fabulous. The fly boots are great too and I actually like the knitted bit- it brings out my inner 'granny'. Love either of them.
