You know that loose crepey skin that people who have lost stones and stones and stones get? Having babies did that to my tummy. Am I really the only one?

I'm not fat. I'm a reasonable size 12.

I had two enormous, full term (overdue actually) babies.

The skin on my tummy is sort of loose and crepey. If I stretch it back (and pin it on each side with a clothes peg perhaps?) it would be fine.

All my friends wear bikinis to the pool, and while none of us are exactly Elle McPhereson, I'm the only one in an aunty swimming costume.

I look like I must have lost 20 stones at some point. The babies weren't quite that big.

I know there are worse things. Just want someone to tell me that I'm not the only one.

Yes, I can't see the appeal myself, but I've always been a costume kind of gal. I'll get me coat

Tummytuckrequired · 15/09/2009 14:46

As you can tell by my "call sign" - i too have the crepe paper effect stomach!

I had 2 9.5lb babies within 17 months of each other and I now look at the reminder every day.

I am a size 8 and haven't worn a bikini since 2004! Swimsuits all the way for me I am afraid as well as no low slung jeans.

Sigh.

HarlotOTara · 15/09/2009 15:44

So, it looks like you get a crepey tummy if you have a massive bump, are small in height and didn't get stretch marks. Maybe we can make loads of money by coming up with a solution !

minko · 15/09/2009 16:05

I saw pics of myself in bikini on holiday and was shocked. After two big babies (2nd was just under 11lbs), my stomach muscles are shot, my belly button is mangled and the skin stretched.

What can you do though? Just accept it, and be glad we live in a country where we have to wear quite a lot of clothes most of the year!

Mistymoo · 15/09/2009 16:14

Definately not the only one. I had a decent flat tummy before my two large overdue babies came along!

I'm having a third so have no hope!!!!

Carrotfly · 15/09/2009 16:52

Looks longingly at the Myla advert next to this thread.

And sighs ...........

Those were the days ...........

Guitargirl · 15/09/2009 17:15

ABitBatty - can I join that holiday?

Two babies in two years, last was 9lb 6oz and am also short and small framed. Stomach is a bloody mess quite frankly. All the muscles seem to have moved up so I have what looks like a pregnancy bump starting just below my boobs and then the lower abdomen part is just a mass of soft wrinkles. Looks like the skin on one of those wrinkly dogs . God help me if my boobs go the same way once I stop bf.

AnyFucker · 15/09/2009 17:22

harlot, I buck the trend here

I am 5ft 10 and my biggest baby was only 8lb

My bumps were very neat (lots of space as have a long midriff), could still shave my legs and tie my laces etc

I don't have stretchmarks though

ShowOfHands · 15/09/2009 17:25

I have this too but stretchmarks to accompany it. Stretchmarks are on my tummy, thighs, back, boobs and knees. Honestly, I can't wear a swimming costume, never mind a bikini. Wetsuit maybe. I'm hideous. Have worked so hard to get back to pre-pregnancy weight, am the fittest I have ever been and look an utter, utter mess.

trellism · 15/09/2009 17:30

I don't know if it's any comfort but I don't think celebrities have tummy tucks at the same time as c-sections or indeed have them early.

They care about their babies the same as everyone else!

The reason I think that is because I have a friend who had a gastric band. He has the same sort of crepey skin you describe now, following his weight loss, and is having a tummy tuck. He is having to wait over a year to have the op though, to ensure that his weight and skin have stabilised.

I don't know of course, but it doesn't seem to be sensible to tuck away excess skin when you simply don't know how much there's going to be.

hazeyjane · 15/09/2009 17:31

I had 2 babies (not huge) in 14 months, and thought I had got away with no stretchmarks, because they were all hidden underneath my enormous stomach.

I have definately been left with a cat belly.

chimchar · 15/09/2009 17:37

i'm the same...wibbly saggy belly caused by hooooge dc2! my belly looked great again when i was about 5 monthe pg with dc3...not a wrinkle in site, but its a bit extreme to kepp having babies to make my belly look better for a short time!

op...you are not alone!

Elemental · 15/09/2009 18:04

Yep, me too. Am 5'1, had 9 pound 4 baby 2 weeks overdue and only got some stretch marks right at the end. I didn't think too much of my belly before pregnancy, now I spend a lot of time wishing I'd appreciated it more, it was supermodel-like compared to the burst balloon I now have

mathanxiety · 15/09/2009 18:19

At least you can get a decent bra for the sad boobs ...

TaylorSwift · 15/09/2009 18:47

I have a crepey tum. My breasts are pretty bloody sad these days, too. Ach well. I look hot in clothes

pofacedandproud · 15/09/2009 18:49

I could have written your post too. Am a size 12 [pre children size 10] two enormous babies and three finger gap in my stomach muscles, as well as crepey skin. Trousers are the hardest thing, they either go under my tummy and then leave me with a builder's arse every time I bend over or, well, I may have to go back to maternity wear.

pofacedandproud · 15/09/2009 18:51

The tankini had to have been created by a bloke, surely.

mathanxiety · 15/09/2009 19:37

I got a decent skirted bikini bottom that keeps the tummy in all its horror tucked in fairly well from an American site, here. They also sell tankini tops that extend a bit lower. Plain and business-like swimwear it is, but drawing attention to myself is the last thing I want to do on a beach these days.

PatTheHammer · 15/09/2009 19:54

I have one of these tummy's too, not particularly big babies either (7 and half pounders). Does anyone elses seem to hang slightly to one side?
I am currently losing weight from DC2 born 8 mths ago. The more I lose the more pronounced this effect is. Just seems more flesh on the right hand side.

rosiejoy · 15/09/2009 20:06

look at this website

neither of my pregnancies were planned, and only 15mnths apart, by the time my youngest was 6mnths old i was in shock about the body i'd been left with, looking at this website helped me to feel comfortable in my own skin again.

BCNSback · 15/09/2009 20:10

I have it too.. hated it until a very dear chappie told me.. you have had 3 beautiful children, you earned that and it is a very small pay off.. were it with pride.. and things along those lines.

and you know what.. I actually don't mind my JB now..

@ never do doggy

CarGirl · 15/09/2009 20:15

I too have crepe "twin" skin, 3 enourmous babies in 3 years. Hardly any stretch marks though.

I just keep my clothes on at every opportunity.

They were/are worth it though.
