Denim Jackets - Do you look like a hip mum or Suzi Quattro?

I am thinking of giving my fitted denim jacket to charity (circa 2000ish) but read today that denim jackets are the NEW THING!!!!

To chuck or not to chuck.

Not chuck

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 08/09/2009 19:42

chuck

YouLukaSimplyAmazing · 08/09/2009 19:42

c 2000 I would say let someone else have the pleasure of finding it as a piece of treasure in a charity shop, and then allow them to be Suzi Quattro instead

LaurieFairyCake · 08/09/2009 19:42

I would have a look on Grazia or something to see what shape/style the 'new' denim jacket is before you chuck it.

I have one from the early 90's and I am now too old for it and I would look like a twat so I won't be doing that particular fashion.

CybilLiberty · 08/09/2009 19:43

I havent worn my denim jacket for about 3 years. it just looks so dated now.

MovingOutOfBlighty · 08/09/2009 19:43

But apparently if teamed with a wafty skirt I could look 'just like Agyness Deyn'

not with denim though

cocolepew · 08/09/2009 19:45

No to double denim.I wear mine with linen trousers.

I'm achingly hip.

ROTFL

LaurieFairyCake · 08/09/2009 19:46

aaah, double denim

double stonewash denim the worst

I have a photo from the mid-80's of me in a stonewash denim skirt and matching jacket. The skirt was a pencil - knee-length one with two slits up the front.

What a fox I was

with my Sun-in hair

MovingOutOfBlighty · 08/09/2009 19:46

LOL Frosty. I had forgotten the joys of bleached denim. Perhaps blacked them out.
And you are right about the double denim thing.

CybilLiberty · 08/09/2009 19:46

Actually if you shortened the sleeves to 3/4 length it could look a bit more modern.

MovingOutOfBlighty · 08/09/2009 19:47

Sun in!!!!!!!! The cause of my hair trying to look like carole Decker for 2 years.

Ooooh, China in Your Hand. Sing along with me....

Keep. Obviously double denim is a crime on a par with eating children but with a cute skirt and a fitted top, or with a pretty but funky dress, a denim jacket can look really good imho.

MovingOutOfBlighty · 08/09/2009 19:51

I am swaying now towards keeping and teaming up with pretty but funky dress. Only thing is, have to find one of those.

What is wrong with Suzi Quatro exactly? I chuffing well heart her

SixtyFootDoll · 08/09/2009 22:30

No keep it and team it with a ditzy floral dress and tan blet/ boots
Very trendy right now
Have dug my old one out is fitted and ccropped

jemart · 08/09/2009 22:50

Keep.
Please don't put studs on it though.
If embellishment is needed may I suggest a quick visit to Accessorize? Brooches/chains or for more girly look a big silk flower?

KristinaM · 08/09/2009 23:41

LOL laurie. you sound like me - i wore mine early 80s with my farrah fawcet majors hairstyle, with flicks over one eye

Tortington · 08/09/2009 23:42

chuck

KristinaM · 08/09/2009 23:43

when I was at uni all the engineers wore denim jackets with AC/DC in studs on the back

(when this referred to a band and not one's sex life)

BerylCole · 09/09/2009 05:22

A colleague looks great in hers - it's short, fitted, light denim and she wears it with the sleeves jauntily rolled up. She is 24, 6 feet tall and about a size 6, though
