hello everyone, just wondering whether anyone uses mineral makeup and if so which brand? i have been using bare essentials and like it a lot (the only makeup that doesnt give me eczema!), but i find it quite hard to apply... also quite hard to get hold of (i buy online but would like to see before i get it). also i would prefer a liquid foundation.

anyone tried other brands? i see clinique has brought out a new range, and MAC does a liquid one.

any experience?

I use the Max Factor one and it's a bit rubbish - not very good coverage.
I'm interested in the new Clinique one...

foofi · 07/09/2009 15:21

I used SheerCover for years, but it's fairly difficult to get hold of exactly what you want. Excellent product though, really covers rosacea.

I'm currently using the Laura Mercier one because there's a shop near where I live. It's almost as good.

However, neither of these are liquids. IMO they work/look much better than liquids I have tried.

foofi · 07/09/2009 15:22

I tried this and it was rubbish imo.

shopalot · 07/09/2009 15:27

I love bare essentuals. I buy it from ebay -strawberry something shop. Or House of Fraser or even Debenhams have started doing it. I love the powders.

FlyingMonkey · 07/09/2009 17:37

I bought some No. 7 mineral foundation which was vile. I've heard Body Shop stuff is good if you have a limited budget. Would also be interested to hear if anyone has tried the Clinique stuff.

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 07/09/2009 17:38

it is crap. if you like it you probably don't need to wear makeup in the first place.

cocolepew · 07/09/2009 17:38

I tried the powder type but didn't like it, Maybelline Liquid Minerals is great though.

CybilLiberty · 07/09/2009 17:40

I use no 7 and am a bit 'meh' about it. it's a little dark.

BUT bare essentuals always looks good on QVC and those telly ads for Sheer cover are very persuasive.

I really think you need to try it instore to get the right colour.

NoahFence · 07/09/2009 18:23

no good for dry skin

catinthehat2 · 07/09/2009 18:27

Left me with weird red patches on my face which required a prescription to clear up. Had to bin it.

zanz1bar · 07/09/2009 18:41

love it and find it easier to apply than liquid which always ended up a bit blotchy.
Just shut eyes and buff, buff, buff, polish, polish, polish. done. 5 secs.

RinkyDinkyPinky · 07/09/2009 18:55

Lily Lolo is OK when I just want a quick, fine coverage. It's cheap and you can get testers to check the colour. A good brush is essential though.
Liquid is still my favourite for when I have time and can be bothered.

notjustapuppymum · 07/09/2009 19:16

I use bare essentials and love it. What do you find difficult about applying it?
Lily Lolo is also good but not as good coverage.
All the high street brands were the 'followers' rather than the leaders in mineral make-up so IMO none of them will be as good as the original ones who have been making it for years and years.

Corporalcornsilk · 07/09/2009 19:18

My sister swears by bare essentuals but I can tell she's wearing it and I think it's a wee tad glittery/shiny. She gets it from QVC.

bobbynog · 07/09/2009 19:20

Avon have launched some mineral make up - and they offer 90 day money back guarantee if you don't like it.

CybilLiberty · 07/09/2009 19:22

ATM all I'm wearing everyday is concealer and pressed face powder-remember that? Looks as good as any foundation I've tried.

Corporalcornsilk · 07/09/2009 19:23

It's not mineral but prescriptives magic liqiud powder is the business.

GirlsAreLOud · 07/09/2009 19:24

Like it, use bare essentuals and a loreal (I think) one.

Only complaint is that it doesn't last long.

GirlsAreLOud · 07/09/2009 19:24

As in the pot doesn't last long

mad4myboys · 07/09/2009 19:28

is minerals any good for coverage if you have spots? Does it clog?

foofi · 07/09/2009 19:35

Yes, definitely.

GirlsAreLOud · 07/09/2009 19:35

I think it covers pretty well but I always use a concealer first.

foofi · 07/09/2009 19:36

That's yes, it covers spots. Doesn't clog.

MrsJamin · 07/09/2009 19:38

I like lily lolo too.

winniewoo · 07/09/2009 19:40

L'oreal one is great..I love it.
