Over-the-knee / thigh length boots - will you be wearing them?

I'm looking at them in the mags and thinking that they culd v. easily look tarty and I can't seem to transplant them from the stick thin and highly styled models into a mental image of a normal person wearing them.

So, will you be wearing them this season, and if so can you link to what you're getting and what will you wear them with. Oh, and if you're up for it, whether you're a stick think tall model or 5'ish with the normal lumps and bumps.

I like them but agree - very hard to pull off. I am very tall with good, slim legs, but a size 14 from the upper thighs-up and aged 32 and cannot see them looking good on me. I would feel like a fat, haggard version of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman aka a prozzer.

Prunerz · 05/09/2009 19:57

I will not be wearing them.
I'm quite tall and not overweight, but I have this thing about not actively trying to look like a hoor.

mrswill · 05/09/2009 20:55

Nope, am short and size 10, so would probably look like i was wearing them fishing wellies. i havent seen anyone wearing them yet either. Bit Ho-bag for me.

kacarruth · 19/09/2009 16:33

As long as they're flat i really don't think they look sluttie and what does it matter if no-one else wears them. Personally i will be buying some, i am also quite tall and expecting. I plan to wear them with leggings and jumper dresses or skinny jeans and layers.

vinblanc · 19/09/2009 16:34

Absolutely not

captainmillenniumflint · 19/09/2009 16:35

nope, my years in panto are behind me (oh no they're not!)

foxinsocks · 19/09/2009 16:36

don't they hurt the back of your knee?

LuluMamaaaaarrrrr · 19/09/2009 16:36

you have to be tall , thin , long legged and under 25 to carry them off, so that's a no for me!!

MamaG · 19/09/2009 16:38

um no.

Brings back memories of the late 90s when I was a Saturday girl in barratts. Area Manager came in at 5past 9 one morning to find me and the other girl dancing on teh chairs in thigh length boots that had just been delivered [ho]

MayorNaze · 19/09/2009 16:38

i like the idea of them...am shortish but have long legs and am thinnish... am under 30... where can one purchase them? links pls...

Fleecy · 19/09/2009 16:47

I have these boots and I really like them.

I chose flat ones because they don't look too tarty - and I didn't want to spend huge amounts.

They're surprisingly easy to wear. I've worn them with shortish day dresses and thick tights or with leggings and long tops. I do have a military coat and they look very panto with that so there are some things best avoided

I'm 32, 5'8" and a size 8-10. Not sure I'd wear them if I were shorter. My mum's 5'0 and she's never been able to wear anything like that!

NoahDear · 19/09/2009 16:47

I had gold high top Converse when I was about fifteen. God, I loved them. Would love a pair of those silver Ash ones.

lucykate · 20/09/2009 10:20

no, i'm too old, too short and not a pirate

macherie · 20/09/2009 10:33

I like them, but at 5'3" I don't think they would look good.

CybilLiberty · 20/09/2009 10:35

They will be out of fashion next year, not a stayer.

southeastastra · 20/09/2009 10:43
