I just want something that looks reasonable and keeps the water out, is that too much to ask
Any suggestions gratefully received. Thank you.

[pulls up chair to eavesdrop cos klaw would like the answer to this one too]

Hi Klaw, it's just too hard isn't it [sobs]

I have PMT tho, so could all change tomorrow.

Boden have a nice raincoat.

Not a jacket tho. And I don't know if it's waterproof.

I got quite a nice raincoat jacket in M&S earlier this year. There's not enough of it tho (IMO now!) to really keep you dry in the rain.

Hi Clary, which one is it. Can I admit to loving the red patent jacket...unfortunately would only have the confidence to wear it in the back garden

That's the one isn't it. Just read the details, sorry.

very, umm, touristy

Flower one is cute though!

Not really a jacket either but I've been dying to show someone it for a few days now!

Hawkshead are pretty good

Clary · 01/09/2009 21:12

ooh yes that patent jacket is rather fine

The raincoat I meant is this one but of course you can't actually buy it unless you like the colour I have (purple pattern) oh and I see they have orange back in stock in larger sizes!

If I had the money I would be tempted with some of these Gekko

MaggieLeo · 01/09/2009 21:37

That urban mac isn't waterproof, I remember people on mumsnet saying that last year. No comments to that effect on their website though.

I bought a Kirsten rain mac. It looks like it would be water proof but it's not. can't believe i was conned.

florenceuk · 01/09/2009 21:55

What about lands end: women's coats here

I have a boring North Face parka from Blacks though.

MaggieLeo · 01/09/2009 22:56

this is nice actually

landsend

Clary · 01/09/2009 23:45

maggie the Boden urban mac says it's showerproof.

Not sure what that means but if it lets in the rain then mine's going back

There is a comment about it in one of the reviews I noticed.

Can't get pic of landsend one to appear but it sounds nice!

Not cheap tho are they that's almost Boden prices

Thanks for all the suggestions! I am going to spend some hours trawling through tonight and will let you know if I find anything marvellous

God, yes, post if you find anything. I really like the lands end one, Maggie, but I want something with a hood. I'm not sure it is possible to find a nice coat with a hood, but I'm going to try. Ideally, I also wanted dark grey. Do you think I am asking for too much?!

MaggieLeo · 02/09/2009 15:09

\maybe if you're stylish, you're supposed to wear one of those jaunty little mac hats. not sure i could pull that off myself, wihtout looking a bit..... cutesy-pie faux francais.

TFINaptime · 02/09/2009 16:01

I think I'd look like Paddington.
