Boots for Autumn / Winter - I want some Fly ones but my calves are too chunky

It's my birthday and DH says he will buy me some new boots (woohoo!).

I want knee length or calf length boots, and love the Fly ones

here

But I tried them on and my calves are too big and the zip wouldn't go right to the top without cutting off the circulation to my feet. I'm a size 12 but have rather sturdy legs (it's all muscle honest).

Anyone know of any similar ones that are slightly more generous in the leg?

Loads here, any of them similar enough?

brokenspacebar · 01/09/2009 14:11

all fly boots are not created equal, those ones have an elastic panel at the back, very discreet, non?

black patent 3/4 length?

adjustable side strap any good?

I know there are probably loads more styles... I haven't looked at Fly London web site, but they might be worth a look.

Another web site that might have fly style boots is T-reds.

T K Maxx are starting to get their winter boots in now. Always worth a rummage. I picked up Fryes in there last year for £80.

brokenspacebar - I like those Fly boots too. I haven't seen those ones in the shops, and I'd rather try them on before I buy because of the calf problem. I could return them if they didn't fit but the postage would be v expensive for boots. It may be worth the risk though.....mmmmm

I may try TK Maxx Fimbo, that's a good tip.

Schuh sell fly boots - they have free p&p!

brokenspacebar · 02/09/2009 14:32

free p&p here too!

brokenspacebar · 02/09/2009 14:34

Fly midas has an elasticated panel too.

Those are really lovely boots, imo. I have a pair of Clarks that are similar (but not recent). They have toggles as well as a zip and can be adjusted to fit a wider calf.

clemette · 02/09/2009 16:15

T-reds has a brilliant sale on. I have just got black knee highs for a tenner!

heymammy · 02/09/2009 16:33

I have a couple of pairs of Fly boots, Mes in red and Mol in black, and am not fat of thigh but they are tight fitting, especially if you want to tuck skinny jeans into them. The buckle doesn't give you much extra room.

These might not be the boots you are looking for def try them on first.

Not Fly I am afraid but is there anything here that you like? They do the wider calf size.
