What have you bought that in your mind you look like X (good) but in reality you like Y?

I needed to buy new shoes today (due to a swimming incident in Whitstable yesterday) and went to Liberty to look.

Couldn't find anything but bought a ridiculously overpriced sort of wool/cashmere cape with buckles at the top.

I was thinking I was channeling a posh-ish Tatler-ish look with messy-ish hair.

When in reality I probably look like I am wearing an overpriced wool blanket.

Then to top it all off dh started doing 'kshh kshh I am your father' in a Darth Vader voice as I look like I am channeling the force instead.

SO what have you bought that you thought yes I am looking like this, then your dh or other have pointed out it is something else all together?

I bought a large pair of striking sunglasses and wore them to a wedding with an extravagently patterned Earl Jeans halterneck and ridiculously artistically messy hair.

looked fab until I saw the photos, where I found I looked like a crazy punk fly

I bought a pari of skinny jeans keep trying them on obviously under the missaprehention that my stomach has shrung a few inches. The thing is i'm not too big all over for skinny jeans and I have good legs but they do just make me look huge in the middle.
Have bought a boyfriend cardigan to go over top now on the search for a nice top to go underneath to disguise it a bit/

Oh and have just rembered an ornage loose fitting dress I bought, is gorgeous I love it and would look good on my frind who is slimmer than me I look like i'm wearing a brightly coloured sack.

I wish dh would occasionally say to me darling you look bloody awful but he won't he says I always look gorgeous and I know sometimes it's a bare faced lie.
I have noticed though that he will make a point of cemmenting when he comes in from work if he thinks I do look nice so am going to start putting on outfits I am doubtful about just before he comes in comment I know I look alright nothing said I look like a bag of poo.

Haha all these are great. Put cape thingo on today and am still wearing it, over white shirt - Am very warm and cosy, maybe its likeness to a blanket ain't so bad!

Just ignoring dh's darth mummy comments now.

(just realised missed out a word in title, meant to say... look like y)

i treid on a balck sequin jacket in H and M, its reall yplain - no collar, no buttons etc
thought GREAT wiht jeans and plain top for winter nights out

ds2 who has a good and accurate eye looked at me, did that wrinkly lip thing he does and says " no, its a bit come dancing"
the thing is i still think he was WRONG

Ooh blacm sequins reminds me of a top I bought again I must think I am a lot more svelte than I am. I bought a loose plared vest type top with a black sequins on the front thinking great it's loose will flow over my lumpy bits....nope it manages to grab them all on the way down and I actually think it's waaay too young for me as well I still think i'm 18 (with the figure I had then)
