yadda yadda skin cancer( wlthough I read recently that the casusative effect of sun might have been overrated they think) and wrinkles etcetc

BUT its true

I dont tan. I have that horrible pale skin that goes bright red, and then goes back to white withina few days.

I used a sunbed as a teen but it was pointless, I remained white, but with a massive influx of freckles.

Now I fake tan. Its true, certainly for me anyway- I look 100000x better with a tan.

FlightHattendant · 25/08/2009 08:20

Good on you Emma...freckly skin is fairly high risk for melanoma so you're right to be careful.

SausageRocket · 25/08/2009 08:28

I look better with a tan but I do accept that the long term risks (skin cancer and prem ageing) outweigh the short term benefits.

The only thing I will say is that as a person of the slightly spotty persuasion , UV light does wonders for my skin. Again though, short term cosmetic benefits not worth long term health risks.

Flight, thank you again. I am not having the others looked at now for 6 months - they are happy to wait 6 months and look again. I will hunt you down then if thats ok

All the best Triffic xx (thanks for letting me loose on your medical notes!)

AnyFucker · 26/08/2009 14:42

yes, and flight told me off on another thread

so she rocks

KristinaM · 26/08/2009 14:48

yes it does IMO

although wrinkles and cancer look even worse than a white naked body

the only safe tan comes from a bottle

plenty advice here on mumsnet on fake tanning

FlightHattendant · 26/08/2009 15:05

See, I only admonish you because I care for you, my dear...

besides you didn't really do anything naughty and I thought your apology was fabulous

10/10

I burnt on Sunday

For the first time in my life ..........(well I have ended up with a few chemical burns as a reaction to suncream & 1 fateful 'Don't go out in the sun on this medication' so if you count that the second time ever)

I feel such a pratt & I am planning to be more careful in future

FlightHattendant · 26/08/2009 15:23

Ds1 had a chemical burn on his face last year, after I let him have his face painted. It kind of bubbled up into a blister. I worry about that now.

Katymac · 26/08/2009 15:28

FA I worry too

I have had many a chemical burn but as they aren't UVA/B I thought they were a bit less worrisome long-term

FlightHattendant · 26/08/2009 16:30

That makes sense actually. I think...will have to look it up.

8oreighty · 26/08/2009 21:56

I got skin cancer on my nose...so don't think that looks too good...since then have been using 40 on my face daily and seems to really help with stopping those wrinkles. I use fake tan or nothing...
