Wearing a short dress to a wedding at 30 weeks pregnant.

I have worn it this pregnancy before , when I was less pregnant. But still with a bump. Pics of me wearing it (last time) on profile, it's bright blue and strapless.

But since my bump has grown, it is now hanging shorter.

Dh says it's borderline too short...I asked his opinion.

I am supposed to be wearing it today. Only tried it on again last night wise move.

I don't have a problem with wearing short things and I am still happy with my legs. When I sit down it covers my thighs well iykwim. You can't see pants!!!!

And I have earings to wear with it...

What would you think if you saw a quite bumpy pregnant lady in a short dress at a wedding??

BTW, totally agree about leggings being a huge no at a wedding.

BunnyLebowski · 14/08/2009 11:13

I would be much more at someone wearing leggings to a wedding than at the dress! That's just plain wrong.

I think you look fabulous and should wear the blue asos dress!

As you say you can sit down without knicker flashing and you're happy with your legs. Go for it

morningpaper · 14/08/2009 11:14

Yes we see it

I still think it would be more suitable for a wedding with leggings than without leggings

morningpaper · 14/08/2009 11:16

Obviously you wuoldn't NORMALLY wear leggings to a wedding, but when you are nearly at terms and the alternative is to see that your baby is at station -2, then leggings are an understable accessory

Trikken · 14/08/2009 11:17

Id say go for it. looks nice enough for wedding/reception IMO. Am very jealous of your figure btw!

princessmel · 14/08/2009 11:21

JohnSimm def no Britney Flashing going on.

I have text all my scarf wearing friends and no luck so far.
I have a gold sequiny shrug (sounds awful but is nicer in RL) but my shoes are silver, diamante, sandals.

Most weddings I go to the ladies seem to be in strapless, short or shortish cocktail type dresses. And huge high shoes. Yes, some with wraps.

MP you're making me laugh!
That is just what I don't people to think 'oh god is the baby going to come out and say hi during the speeches'

It is def ok when I sit down. Much shorter looking when I stand. But still no shorter than I would wear non pregnant. It's because the bump sticks out so far, that it makes the 'look up at my pants' opening in the dress quite wide!! I'm not selling it am I?!!

But who's going to be lying on the floor looking up my dress???

All I'm saying is that if anyone says "Golly, 2cm dilated already!" then you'll know you made the wrong call

princessmel · 14/08/2009 11:29

I will try it on again in a minute and see what I think.

I like it PrincessMel and as it is your style and the style of other people you know then I think it is fine.

MrsBadger · 14/08/2009 11:36

ok, maybe fair enough if it is classed as normal wedding-wear

I would feel horribly naked, esp in a church

but then I don't ever do short and strapless simultaneously anyway

Trikken · 14/08/2009 11:43

do it!!!!

princessmel · 14/08/2009 11:49

ok..

I have it on. For now.

It is short but not indecent.

dh says it looks better as he is now looking at me where he is level with me rather than standing at bottom of the stairs looking up at me.

But it is still short.

And when I stand to the side I know I will look like I have something shoved up my dress!!

Wear it, you'll look fab and will be the envy of all the mums there!

(wish I'd looked like that at 30 weeks with my 3rd)

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 14/08/2009 11:55

how about a white pashmina/wrap instead of silver? Might be more readily available.

And well done on making a decision

princessmel · 14/08/2009 11:58

Depending on time I will look in Accesorise/Next on way.

Have a great time at the wedding- I'm also going to a wedding at 3 today- wonder if I'll see you there

princessmel · 14/08/2009 12:14

Ooh where is your wedding?

Mine is in the SE

OP posts:
cupofteaplease · 14/08/2009 12:16

Mine's in Northants. I still look pregnant in my dress, despite having dd2 2 years ago

MrsArchieTheInventor · 14/08/2009 15:16

They both look fine and you look stunning in both (and I wish I looked as good as you when I'm not pregnant, never mind 30 weeks plus) but the blue one seems a tad unsuitable for a wedding, pregnant or not. It just seems a teensy bit too bride-upstagey, and no bride wants another woman to steal the glances on her wedding day.

allaboutme · 14/08/2009 15:25

i would wear the top dress
the blue one looks too short for a wedding even in your pic, so if even shorter now then will be how the other guests will be looking at you...

notamumyetbutoneday · 14/08/2009 15:33

You look fantastic in the blue asos dress. Wear it. if I am ever pregant and look half as stunning as you i will be happy!

Supercherry · 14/08/2009 20:22

I don't think it looks too short, you've got nice skinny legs anyway, which I always think makes things look less tarty.

You need to feel comfortable yourself though, do you think you will feel comfortable?

princessmel · 15/08/2009 09:59

Thank you for all your comments!!!

I wore the blue asos strapless dress.

And I wore a black wrap, with a black bag and a hairband thingy!!!

I felt absolutely fine in the outfit in the end

And when I arrived, the brides sister (who I don't know) came right over to me and said 'can I just say that you look stunning!'
I had a lot of other lovely comments too
Although I got the usual 'oh I thought you'd be further along than that' comments too.

I kept my heels on all day and we left at just after 9 so good going for me and dc's!!
