Where can I get a Gymnastics Leotard for DD ?

Sports shops don't sell them do they?

I know there are loads of on-line companies but was hoping for somewhere that she can try them on as I have no idea on sizing and shes so tiny build-wise.

If on-line is the only option though can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced company.

Thanks

This is hard to answer as most places are local and so it will depend on where you live.

I take it your gym club doesn't sell them (or even second hand ones for you to try on to get an idea of the size and then purchase online?)

Alternatively, what about a local dance shop for a ballet leotard (again for the purpose of sizing, but ballet leotards can suffice when they are little, my DD used them when she just did recreational gymnastics).

Also shops like M&S and National sportswear centre also sell ballet leotards which again you could use or use to get an idea of sizing.

I got mine new from ebay

JiminyCricket · 12/08/2009 21:36

sorry just read your post and realised that was really unhelpful

John Lewis sell plain ones (school uniform colours).

I would ask another Mum at club where they get theirs/what size etc.

NorbertDentressangle · 12/08/2009 21:42

Karam -aah, yes, dancewear shops. Probably more likely to find one of those locally than gymnastics supplies. Thanks

Jiminy -I did look at ebay briefly but just didn't have a clue size-wise. She could end up with a leotard like the swimming costume I just bought for her....with a saggy arse! (only the mistake would cost me 10 times as much)

Thanks both.

Milliways -unfortunately I can't fob her off with the plain ones any longer.

Shes got a plain one which is getting too small. I told her when she started gymnastics that I wouldn't buy a velvety/sparkly/spangly one unless she stuck with it and she has done.

If you don't mind spending the extra, there is a woman at my DDs club who makes them... quite expensive but good quality. I'll post the link and she might ship them?

Karam · 12/08/2009 22:21

Sorry, it'll be her contact details. My DD has a lovely Black velvet one with little dimantes on it. About £30, but worth it. She is in Swindon, wilts if you happen to live nearby?

If you go onto Milano website they have a very good sizing guide. Milano are quality and last. Ebay is always worth checking for Milano leotards.

My area has a local dance supply shop but they tend to be as expensive as the top brands. Try asking other mums where they get their leotards from.

NorbertDentressangle · 13/08/2009 18:42

Thanks all.

The Milano site has helped on the sizing with measurements so can maybe look at ebay as they are so expensive!

Also, will ask at the gym club.

the leotards are good quality there NB, I have always had a very good service from them. The sizes tend to come up quite small and tight so if your dd is on the slender side I would just get her normal size IYSWIM.

donnie · 14/08/2009 19:03

sorry, meant to say ND!!

NorbertDentressangle · 14/08/2009 19:56

Cheers donnie.

Yes, DD is very much on the slender side. Shes like a little stick insect but with amazing upper body strength for one so tiny.
