please.

My hair used to be very long and very thick.
but its been falling out at a ridiculous rate and its starting to get very thin.

you can see my scalp through my hair now.

I have no idea why.

I was going to cut it short but i've had my hair long for so long that im not sure a short cut will suit my now very round face.

So does anyone know anywhere i can get a decent but not too expensive place to get a nice wig. that way i can shave my head and hiopefully it'll all grow back nice and healthy again

I went to my doctor twice about hair loss and was told that there other people who had illnesses that were more important! In my experience doctors simply don't care. Woman doctor too. Have you looked at your diet? Tried iron supplements? Anaemia is a big factor in hair loss. Also B Vitamins. I'm also trying evening primrose oil to stabilise my hormones. Hormone imbalance can cause hair loss. It can't do any harm to try a multivit and mineral. Need to take it for a few months though.

Sorry this is happening Mamazon.

I had alopecia in 2002 - all my thick shoulder length hair fell out in a few weeks leaving a load of wispy bits, which I shaved off. Lost half of my eyebrows too. I went to the doctor and eventually a private hospital for tests but the reason was never uncovered, it's just one of those things.

However after one year of total baldness (I was a student abroad and got away with wearing a bandana, so can't give any wig advice, though I know you get NHS money towards a good one), it started to grow back. For the first couple of years small patches came and went but now it's been ages since I had any bald bits and my hair is as thick as it ever was. Steroid injections into my scalp helped when I had the odd bald patch.

Hopefully your tests will show an obvious treatable cause but if not, there is definitely hope it will just resolve itself. HTH.
