So who's recently had their hair cut (really) short...like it?

I had mine chopped off into a posh spice-esque do around 10yrs ago following birth of ds1 and loved it!!

My hairs been shoulder length for a few years now and got longer, i grew it for my wedding it is wavy, frizzy i hate it!! i want it chopped again. Tell me i'll love it please??

i see no point in having long hair if i do nothing with it. i have minimal time for grooming

Hi there!
I have had my hair short several times now.
I did like it but found it was much more high maintenance than I had thought due to the fact that it needed trimmed every 6 weeks minimum.
Also for me as I am getting rather more grey now the shortness revealed this much more.
So I would say go for it if you can pay to have a really good cut and the six weekly trims.
I don't suppose the grey issue affects you yet.

Oh, be very careful, I did this last summer and have been living with the consequences ever since. It is exactly a year this week since I did it and NEVER AGAIN, I have been growing it back ever since. It made me so miserable having to grow it out!

I had a chic short haircut as a student and loved it, but this time, I just didn't like it, and found the short cut much higher maintainence than I expected, always needing to put gel in it, needing to be blowdried rather than left to dry naturally, etc.

If you really want to go short I would do it gradually, longish bob, then if you want to you can go shorter, and if you don't it won't take long to grow again.

I love what I have now, long bob, some layers and a sideswept fringe. It's really versatile, can be up or down, parted in middle or side, straight or wavy. Shame it took me a year of misery to get to this length.

yes they do im afriad, post ds3 i have loads more grey!!

yep i know more trims but in the morning im hoping will be quicker to do?

Oh yes quicker to do although I too found that I had a collection of gels and wax.Quicker to wash and dry.
I am really happy now as my hair has been growing out for a few months and is wavy so the layers mean I have a head of curls!
The curls mean the grey, when I dont dye is much less noticeable.
I do have to say that in the past I have been miserable growing it out too.

I have short hair and I don't do much maintaining to it at all. Doesn't get blow dried very often and doesn't get gel or anything like that in it.

I think I look nice

I had mine chopped off just over a year ago and I love it!

The shortest I'd had it for years was just past the shoulder but I decided to go for a longer version of the posh spice look after seeing it on sheridan smith on tv.

I have it cut every 6 weeks, but I have friends that have short hair that go every 8 -I guess it depends how styled the cut is.

Since then though it has been shorter and longer and cut differently on occasion - more/less graduated, more/less layers, etc.

If you can go to the hairdresser every 6 weeks or so go for it - I'm lucky to have a mobile hairdresser who is fab and I love the feeling I get every 6 weeks of having my hair done.

Have short asymetrical hair cut, I wash it, turn by head upside down and blow dry it for 5 mins max! Then, if am am doing posh going out hair, I straighten it a little (lasts about a week), wack a bit of shine into it. If not, I do bugger all else, just walk out the house.

I have actually had various forms of short hair for years and years. I grew it for my wedding, but decided, nice as it was, I wanted it short again so got it all chopped. Much happier like this.

good, well apt, is tomorrow morning at 10am so will update, think i will go for it, my hair grows mega fast and i have tons of it!! so will make life alot quicker. can't wait.

nicola - good decision! I went back to a crop after several years of long thick moppiness after having DC2, and it is GREAT. I love just being able to rub a bit of texturising paste through my hair after my shower, and feeling like I have some sort of style (as opposed to constantly battling with an unruly mane).

Would love to see a pic of your new do later

I had a really short crop before ds1 was born and used to dye it bright red - I loved it!! However, that was when I had plenty of sleep and had time to do make-up, eyebrows etc properly

The hair may be minimal - mine was stick it under the tap and maybe a bit of wax - but as I discovered when I tried to go back to my youthful crop after ds2 that everything that went with it was extremely high maintenance!

I now have short, messy bob, which sometimes looks great and at others,like now, looks rubbish for unknown reasons...

I do love the posh spice hair right now.

The only thing I would say is my mum decided to go back to a style she had years ago and loved, and when she had it done, she was devastated. The face looking back at her was not the same face she used to see when she had her hair like that, and the result was she grew it out straight away.

i have had short crop twice, is def def def low maintenance as even if it does look better blowdried, waxed etc, it still takes much less time as there is much less hair!

currently mine is shortish, kinda like meg ryan but oddly enough not nearly as sexy

Mine is a bit Sarah Harding though not so blonde. I love it - it is quick to style, doen't need blow-drying. I can literally just leave it. The only thing is, it is hard to make it look special for an occasion.

Think you need smallish features and biggish eyes for v short hair though. The name "pixie crop" gives it away.
