Have already looked at Boden, what else is there that's either similar, or top quality?

TIA!

Little Fashion Gallery is my favourite place to browse.

I love gorgeous have lovely dresses

WesternBelle · 01/08/2009 11:04

I have had an online spree and bought some Bonnie Baby rainbow trousers, cardigan and blanket in the sale!!! right sizes, yay! at Peace & Jam, & stripy tops, hats and mittens from Toby Tiger. And a winter coat from Boden

I actually think I will be doing all my shopping online from these sites as the stuff you can get is 100x nicer than the bogstandard high street stuff.

And if you shop around it's not more expensive than Next or M&S but the colours and designs you can get are fantastic. I was beginning to despair of getting nice stuff unless it was Dior or D&G (lovely but not for me).

Thanks again to all!!

I wouldn't really bother with Mischief Kids!
I just tried to order a hat for £16.99 and was told the order had to be over £20. They could either charge £20 for the hat or I could buy two!!!

Alternatively, I could add a pair of socks to put the order over £20, but my dc don't really need any socks costing £4 a pair! Postage would have been added on top as well.

I am not a cheap person, but I have done so much internet shopping over the years and this is the first I have heard of this. I would have bought something else, but it is all quite expensive and I started feeling like if they didn't want my money than why should I bother. Dh and I discussed it and he said no way was I buying the hat now anyway. I just don't see what difference it makes and I would love for it to be explained to me.

Absolutely no way around it in the ordering system apparently. I took this to mean that they wont even bother with me if I am not going to spend loads, as they probably have many customers who can afford much more.

I'm sticking to Boden and Childrens salon, who are also expensive, but bend over backwards to help.

Hi Joliejolie
Sorry you feel like that but, the £20 minimum order was put into place when the site was created and, even though it was my day off and, had just nipped into the shop (on double yellow lines) to sort out a small mail server problem, I did try and find out if there was a way around it for you.

You asked for an explanation so, here it is:

We are a small business we an big internet presence and, we pride ourselves in getting out all our orders the same day, but this comes at a high processing cost so, to send out orders under £20 means we lose money on those orders.

Unfortunately, you did catch us at a really bad time, being a Saturday the shop was boucing, all the staff were serving and, I was parked in a really naughty place.

I'm off away buying next summer collections now but, if you send an email with your phone number to [email protected] I will give you a call upon my return.
Lynn

Fair enough.
Sorry to have hijacked this very nice thread.

Coo Coo Mashu (not that I have ever bought anything from them, far too expensive!)

Rindercella · 01/08/2009 22:08

I like the look of Coo Coo Mashu, and they have a pretty good sale on!

WesternBelle · 01/08/2009 22:34

Hi Mrs Mischief. I had a long look at the Mischief website and I really hope you don't mind, but I thought I would pass on some quick feedback?

There's some lovely items there but the colours are very neutral and there's a predominance of beige, blue and cream. It would be lovely to see some pieces of contrast in colours such as clear blues, greens and reds (as opposed to navy, bottle green and burgundy shades). I loved some of the beige items, particularly the duffel coat and dungarees, but it would be great to have some punchier colours in the mix too.

Also (and I really hope you are not offended by the feedback) the structure of the baby boys page is confusing as the sizes are not segmented. It would be a lot easier to follow if you had defined sections of what was available in 1m, 3m, 6m etc. For example, I was disappointed when I realised the duffel coat only came in 1m size - I thought there would be a range of sizes but that isn't made clear (AFAIK) in advance.

I have to say that I would feel exactly the same as joliejolie about a minimum £20 spend. You are giving the message that customers with less than £20 to spend are not valuable, that is not how retail business survive and grow. Every penny counts from a customer. Who's to say the next order from that person won't be £150 and well cover your costs for a smaller order. You have to speculate to accumulate and not penalise a customer because your business model doesn't allow for not making money on orders under £20.

Seeing as most of your items are at least £25, I would have thought that there can't be that many orders under £20 anyway. Also from a marketing point of view, if someone has had bad service they will tell an average of 7 people. That's 7 potential customers put off.

Your items look like they are of quality, but the black and red and white and yellow and green and blue and orange all over the website (excepting your logo Mischief Kids, which is GREAT) are a little bit offputting and doesn't at all reflect the quality of the items you sell. It's like a designer shop disguised as a pound shop. Having trawled though all the websites on this thread I have seen A LOT of your presumed competitions' websites and their look and feel is very different.

Just a view from a potential customer. Feel free to ignore, sorry if you don't like what I've said but the intention is helpful not critical.

Have to say I agree with western belle, Mischeif Kids website nearly gave me a migraine.... And not sure these message boards are the right place to be marketing your site?

MrsMischief · 02/08/2009 08:02

So sorry to have spoiled this very nice thread.
My apologies to everyone for posting our site links in the wrong place.
I've now paid for the 'proper' place and have (hopefully) answered everyone there but please let me know if I have missed anything out.

poshtottie · 02/08/2009 09:13

I like imps and elves, and lizzie shirt. I have bought most of it at a local shop here in Dorset called HeyBaby.

2sugarsandapuppy · 02/08/2009 09:18

Don't know the internet addy, but Please Mum in Orchard Street, London W1, has some of the naffest clothes ever, if you want to spend shedloads.

Two Foot Nothing in Oxford is full of expensive but stylish clothes. Don't know if they've got a website though. HTH

BonsoirAnna · 02/08/2009 09:18

Bonpoint

Jacadi

BonTon

Countingthegreyhairs · 02/08/2009 11:54

Oh I love Jacadi (sadly they don't deliver here ...sniff although there is a shop) their new ranges are not extortionately expensive either

BonsoirAnna · 02/08/2009 12:55

Jacadi is very good for winter coats - a bit like MaxMara for adults, they do a very complete range of high-quality standard designs.

WesternBelle · 02/08/2009 14:41

hey, the thread hasn't been spoiled MrsMischief and nobody's upset! Hope you get lots of business from your advert

All those suggestions are great, BonsoirAnna poshtottie and 2sugars!

Oh dear... I don't think I should have looked at Bonpoint... I can feel a shopping accident about to happen!

joliejolie · 03/08/2009 01:17

Went ahead and ordered that hat from Mischief kids because I do quite like it!
Fingers crossed!

BonsoirAnna · 03/08/2009 07:58

If you want a real Bonpoint experience, go to the flagship/concept store on rue de Tournon (near the Jardin du Luxembourg), which is HUGE and has the complete range (the website doesn't have everything), plus a lovely café in the garden for lunch in the middle!

EachPeachPearMum · 03/08/2009 09:21

Ah... sadly I have foresworn all visits to Paris!
Well, maybe not sadly for my bank account balance...

joliejolie · 03/08/2009 10:54

There is also a nice Bonpoint outlet shop at Bicester village. Has some beautiful things!

Rindercella · 03/08/2009 15:34

Bicester has a brilliant selection of children's clothes. As well as Bonpoint, there's Ralp Lauren, Petit Bateau, and another beautiful shop but I can't remember the name! I try to avoid it like the plague now though as I spend far too much money there!
