What colour accessories with a black and white dress?

Ok so I have bought a simple black and white patterned dress for a wedding next month.. just below the knee.. full skirt and fitted top no sleeves. What colour shoes and accessories should I go for? Stick to black and white or go for a bright colour.. Im sure I remember Trannya and sussanah saying it was a bad thing to add a colour to B/W..
I also would like a thin summery shawl to cover my upper arms... what colour??

Black does tend to 'cheapen' colours but it can work sometimes.

TBH if it was me I'd go for black shoes and silver jewelry, but then I'm rather dull!

Can you link to the dress?

I might go for a colour, but a rich one rather than a bright one (e.g. a deep red or teal). In that case I'd be inclined to try to match the shoes to the shawl (did this for a dinner last year and got lots of compliments).

Difficult to say without seeing the dress. Red might work?
