I don't know where to shop anymore. where do you find stylish clothes??

Dh says I've started dressing like my mother so I've tried looking for some more exciting clothes but I don't know where to shop. I'm completely out of touch with style.

I went out last night to treat myself and found myself shopping at next and M&S and buying safe plain v nevked tops and bootcut traosers ans propagating my mumsy look.

I'm mid thirties and have a big build I'm a size 16 now, although alot of that is nork. I need extra long leg in trousers which is why i get sucked back to next as I struggle to find stuff to fit elsewhere.

Where else can I look? what should I be wearing?? please help!

Zara is good for long trousers but they can be on the snug side. I like the mix of edgy stuff with classic caramel (middle age word for justifying beige)/black combo.

Does DH dress like his father?

You are still young but I've reached the point where accessories and jackets seem to make an outfit rather than the outfit itself, IYSWIM.

Me and my mother are big fans of fat face, i'm a size 16 and find there clothes (although a little expensive but they have good sales) well made, a flattering cut and really beautiful.

I have Zara pegged for a skinny person shop.

I tried something on in their largest size (could have been an 18) and couldn't get my norks in.

Funny you should say that. in the last year I have aquired a large amount of jewelry and a few belts. I'm jsut starting to look at jackets

unfortunatly dh's father passed away a long time ago and I didn't really know him so I don't have that card to play. He certainly isn't stylish though.

Drop the bootcut trousers (not literally) have a browse on some websites, Dorothy Perkins, Great Plains, Kew, FCUK etc to see what sort of shapes are more modern. You don;t have to be a fashion victim.

For example if you bought skinny jeans (and 16's can happily wear them) with a loose longer top that would look great. Next is too mumsy, if you like M&S their Limited Collection and Autograph stuff is a bit more fashionably cut than their basic stuff.

I am a tall 14 and Hennes trews are too long on me. I got some wide leg ones the other day

I've recently been looking in Wallis but all i'm buying is more plain t shirts..... the trousers don'e seem that long and I don't think they do longer ones.

principles seems nice but I thought it was going down the pan. I will check out Mango, not noticed one since I moved up north though.

I don't think i've ever looked in fat face, how about trouser lengths? I need a 34 inch at least.

Lola - strangely, the Zara floaty summer stuff is too small for my norks, but the more fitted shirts and jackets are fine.

I'd agree that Kew is worth a look. I would also say Boden but people would only start abusing me!

I don't think I suit skinny jeans. my tummy and thighs are not my best assets. (although since dd I'm not sure I have any best assets) and the loose long tops make me look pregnant.

I suit tailored looks but I don't have the lifestyle to live in suits unfortunatly.

BodenG is right, it's all about the accessories.

There's nothing wrong with plain tees and trousers at all, you just need some chunky beads, cute shoes and a some fab bags to wear with them.

Although, as you are so fabulously tall, a knitted dress with tights and boots would look great for Autumn.

I quite like white stuff.

I find fat face very odd. It seems to be stuff made for surfers or hippies and I am neither.

I'm not quite 60......47 next week! Husband is much older and still shops there.

I love the clothes, they're just not "me" - I'm a bit more of a classic dresser and their stuff just makes me feel scruffy.

I would love to be the kind of person who could pull off fat face clothes. I've got an inner hippie but when I try to dress like a hippy I achieve bag lady.

I think I might try a couple of fat face tops but with wide leg trousers as boarder trousers just make me look like a fat slob. I've found a necklace I love though so i feel an order coming on....

jeans? gap do good ones, and in long lengths too. the style called Curvy is good.
