I have about four horrible cardis, all of them given to me by my mother over the years. I don't like any of them but I have recently realised that I need a pretty cardi for summer and it struck me that I have never bought one before.

Fine knit, a pretty colour but strong rather than pastel, not a round neck (not flattering), feminine, not fancy as I want to wear it with anything.

I have just browsed french connection and the dread boden but seen nothing of interest.

Just bought a long grey gorgeous floaty cardigan that is in a kind of ribbed material from Marks and Spencer of all places....despite the recent bashing they get on mumsnet, most of their stuff is a bit mumsy ..but sometimes just sometimes they do get it right.

People keep asking if the cardigan is designer..it is really lovely and only £35 so not too expensive

I am early 30's and love warehouse and Oasis. Warehouse in particular have had some gorgeous stuff this spring/summer. Some fabulous tops in really flattering cuts. Give them a try. I can't imagine i'd even consider Boden until i'm at least 48!
