Why are JIGSAW clothes so hideous?

Just been in there to see if there's anything decent in the sale. The shop is full of the most shapeless clothes. And they're not exactly cheap - who on earth buys these things. I remember years ago getting a few nice things, but there's absolutely nothing in there now I would buy

yes it's awful

I went in and tried to like their clothes as loads of people I know seem to like them

but when I tried them on, they either made me look like the court jester or a milkmaid from the 1800s

I was awash with his discounted offerings guilt probably!had every item in every colour and was the envy of my friends until they realised what he was up to.I think I have a pair of old cowboy boots still knocking around everything else tiny

Glad it's not just me then
Did we get to the bottom of the sex vests? (no pun intended!)

on a more positive note, I was very impressed with LK Bennett. Have never been able to afford their clothes, but got a lovely skirt in the sale (and a very nice dress on ebay)

There's a shop close to my office and it's full of pregnant women, because everything in Jigsaw is so stretchy and shapeless that it makes you look pregnant anyway.

The quality is shite as well. Bought a cardigan from there a few months back and every button needed re-sewing within one wash.

It is very shapeless too and ridiculously expensive. I took a necklace to the till - just a pretty pale green beady one thinking it was £19.99 but it was actually £119.99 - i screeched ' no thanks then' and ran from the shop.

£119 for a necklace from Jigsaw

I agree- Jigsaw used to be my saving grace- wel not in terms of saving any money- but at least I could walk in and want to spend £1000 no problem.

I have a lovely silk dress I bought 2 summers back, as well as a few tops, a jersey dress- Boden have now copied this with their double layer dress- exactly the same.

This year I have bought one skirt- linen with the bow at the front and that's it.

I could have bought a couple of dresses at £100+ but who would spend that on a summer frock- and they all looked like maternity wear anyway.

They do have a few nice "occasion" dresses, all silk or chiffony stuff, but I don't often do occasions.

Agree that they have changed- Iread that they got a new creative director a couple of years back- shame. Kew is the same...all maternity dresses and shapeless jumpers.

Whilst I still have a waist I want to show it off!!!!!!

trellism · 22/07/2009 22:29

Oh, I remember having a waist. I remember going into Jigsaw about 6 months ago and finding that everything was too big and loose for me.

I'm filling out the double layer jersey dress I bought very nicely now.

Maybe they are getting inspiration from Per Una

pagwatch · 23/07/2009 12:43

I bought a dress from there recently. It is pretty grim. Its a big check shapeless thing that looks like the stuff Laura Ingles would wear at 40.
But I [heart] it. It is so comfy and has big pockets and i look a bit mad in it.If I could just plait my hair I would look like someone trying to audition for BB. I wear it all the time

DH calls it my WTF dress.

pleasechange · 23/07/2009 21:36

pagwatch at the WTF dress
