Bras again. Sorry to be a bore but I am stuck.

Help! Please!

I have a real problem with finding a bra that fits properly. We have no bra-fitting type shops round here - beleive me I've checked . I have raised this subject so sorry to be a bore but I am desperate.

I am a really odd shape. I have a wide back - I buy a 38 and it isn't loose . I've usually gone for a B cup. But since I've lost weight the bra cups are usually too big but I get a bulge around the sides of the bra at the front of my arms. It looks vile. Even my new sports bra that is really comfortable looks bad - I have some really good running tops that I simply can't wear because they look lumpy. All the websites I've looked at suggest that a lot of problems require a smaller size and a larger cup - I really can't see that would help me. If I could I'd go without but after bfing for the best part of 9 years I need support!

So wtf can I do. Skimpy tits with a bulge under the arms. I think it might be muscle as it firms up when I flex my arms but regardless of what it is it's horrible.

You need to jiggle.

When you put the cups over your breasts, lean forward so the breasts hang into the cups. When you've got the straps over your shoulders, put your hand in the cup and pull the arm bulges into the cup with the palm of your hand. also make sure that any underneath bulges are pulled in too. It makes a vast difference

I went through this whole rigmarole when fitted recently - and I did it under the fitter's instruction. She didn't touch my breasts at all.

I've just bought these in a 34 E and they're fab. Very supportive - minimal bounce when running upstairs and they don't show under a vest top because they're cut straighter across the top of the cup.

Right! Thanks soupdragon. I am prepared to jiggle.

I am looking forward to getting this sorted. I have been self-conscious about it for ages but just kept trying to hide under baggy stuff.

All my underarm bulges have gone using the jiggle-and-scoop method

I might be making this up but I think if you call Bravissimo they will help you work out your size over the phone...

was not imagining : www.bravissimo.com/perfectfit/getting-the-perfect-fit/default.aspx

"need encouraging to sit up and forwards into the cup." I now have a vision of Barbara Woodhouse shrieking "Sit!"

OrmIrian · 26/06/2009 13:12

Thanks marmite. Am off to have a look!

Gahhh.... Thanks to MN and Bravissimo I have just had a look in the mirror in the ladies loo. Bra strap rides up ridiculously high - why did I never notice that? As for being able to run two fingers inside the straps... how about a whole hand?

Mind you I have had this one since my middle child was a baby.... Probably didn't fit properly then either.

Perhaps a whistle and some doggy treats would help too

I have my puppies perfectly trained now

Just to add- I posted a bra query a couple of days ago...

having been convinced I was a 34A for most of my post pubescent life, I then ventured into a 34B as boobs grown a bit due to hormone meds...

but on checking my actual rib cage/back-under-boobs measurement I found I was measuring just over 30 inches!

I have now been trying 32Cs and find they seem better and maybe even a 32D in one style!

I do have uneven boobs and one is almost a cup size smaller than the other- but a fitter told me to fit the biggest boob (lie shoes) and hoik the smaller boob up by shortening the strap.

OrmIrian · 28/06/2009 21:44

Ha! Figment. I ended up with the same bra as you. The only one that fitted properly. I found a Triumph shop in Clarks Village - not a full range but a few. I was measured. The girl assured me that I was a 38 I tried a C cup - in a few styles there was way too much spare fabric at the top but the amourette (grim name!) was fine. Has got rid of the flab at the sides (as long as I scoop and wiggle )

Still want to try a 36 - they didn't have one in the size but will perhaps order from figleaves.

Thanks so much for your help.

oh just read you've been measured, I measured myself last week on this calculator and found out I'm no longer a 40DD, and now a 38C, no wonder I felt like a saggy mess, no a few lovely figleaves bras later I feel little miss perky.

The thing I couldn't understand is that the number doesn't equal back size as I always thought. My under cup measurement is 33" but 3 different online calculators came up with 38C.

FigmentOfYourImagination · 28/06/2009 22:06

Oh fab Orm

SoupDragon · 29/06/2009 11:22

Not only does the scoop-and-wriggle get rid of the side flab, it also helps fill up the cups

mrsmerryweather · 29/06/2009 12:15

Just want to say that the calculator doesn't seem to work for me...

it brings me up as a 34A- that's what I was wearing a while back, then I grew to a 34B, and having measured my under rib cage area I find I only measure 30inches- so I am now wearing 32C and they fit best of all.
