Is joules ''mumsy''?

Since having dd I've had dd, I've discovered joules and I quite like it but is it a bit of a mummy uniform like Boden?

More horsey, I would have thought, what with all those polo shirts, but I do like the "school fete" style dresses. I think they're definitely aiming for the Boden market.

A bit mumsy, yes, but stylish mumsy! Defo more horsey than boden.

I love Joules, but I am very horsey lol too, aside from the polos and fleeces they have some gorgeous dresses and accessories. x

I love Joules, but I steer clear of the polo shirts. I think they look terrible on anyone with norks the size of a small planet. I think they are far more reasonably priced than Boden.

Isn't that the beauty of the internet? I haven't been in Topshop since around 1988. But then I've recently lost a lot of weight and don't know what to buy anymore. I wondered aimlessly around the shops today with money to spend and bought zilch. It was so tempting to pick up the sort of things I used to buy when I was size 18/20. I just don't know what suits me right now. Still couldn't see myself in Topshop though. Would they even let me in with a baby?

LOL at thought of baby police in Top Shop They actively encourage mums now with lovely range of maternity wear and Top Shop mini for little girls.

To answer your OP, I think any clothes from any store can look mumsy if they aren't worn/accessorised correctly/badly fitting etc or items from said stores are worn head to toe. It's all down to how you wear them. The way these clothes are modelled in Joules & Boden don't really help matters.....with their twee "middle england" images. Take a Joules dress out of the "village fete" photograph, add a pair of converse/gladiators/flip flops and a funky bangle and bingo! Tis transformed from mum uniform to fab outfit.

I often buy things from Boden and Jigsaw (two stores which have a "mum uniform" reputation) but then I also have stacks of Top Shop and H & M stuff too. I just mix & match and I love my accessories .

Buy anything you like from wherever you like and just put your own spin on it

I love a lot of Boden and Joules stuff and wouldn't give a rats ass if people thought it was mumsy.

It all looks a bit 'country living' in their photos but some of the stuff is lovely and great quality.

I never wear things as they show them anyway, so my lovely boden cardis I wear with jeans/uggs and they don't look instantly boden but are that brilliant boden stay-in-shape-after-squillions-of-washes.

I do agree that large bosoms tend not to look pleasant in polos but I'm not a sloaney polo type of girl anyway.

I think you have to beware with Joules of badges/logos (sorry if you like that sort of thing) - but the dresses, shoes and bags are lovely. Agree with the last two posts. If you wear head-to-toe Boden or Joules, you'll look a bit odd, too identifiable as a mummy, but they go well with lots of other stuff.

Don't understand why there are always so many threads on here slagging off Boden - like any make, some of it's crap some of it's lovely!

i quite like the equestrian look even though i don't ride! mabe i'm trying to evoke dreams of girlhood pony obsession!
i have so far stuck to the brighton skirt in pink and a floral kimono which i will wear with denim. i quite like the floral shorts.
i saw a teen wearing joules the other day which made me feel a bit better. mabe it's more sloaney than mumsy?

im in the country so ok. i have gone for florals in a big way this summer- mabe too mant florals are mumsy. must get biker/denim jacket!
my normal look is a bit boho so joules is a change for me. top shop is ok but expensive for what it is.

don't like the logos/badges but the fleeces are fantastic quality (i have 3...)
also the wellies are great, i borrowed my friends when it was snowing last year and didn't want to give them back.

I am wearing a Joules tilly dress as we speak and I love it. Makes my boobs look huge.
