Is it a sign of approaching middle age to buy a coat in the garden centre?

they look far happier not wearing it don't they

blametheparents · 18/06/2009 14:26

I have not even looked at the link so it could be the latest design by Marc Jacobs for all I know, but buyig a coat in a garden centre is def a sign of old age I'm afraid. Never mind, did you buy any lovely slacks at the same time?

traceybath · 18/06/2009 14:27

You are in the nicest possible way deluded .

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 18/06/2009 14:31

I'm so sorry. But you are absolutely right.......definitely a sign of middle age........and you are delusional

Fimbo · 18/06/2009 14:33

Yikes - no don't do it. Colours are terrible too .

TheYearOfTheCat · 18/06/2009 14:43

So hat wouldn't be a good buy either?

Being in a graden centre is a sign of middle age. Liking one of those jackets and contemplating buying one is a sign of something far more sinister.I am 47 and would not even buy one of those for my mum.

You are suffering from declining style. Find medication, get some self-help books. Seriously do something. Or else just accept it and note that the Country Casuals sale has started.

I did buy a sunhat in the garden centre on Sunday, and found myself looking at the clothes and thinking "hmm, they're not too bad" so I had to leave in a hurry !

squeaver · 18/06/2009 14:59

Yes

Did you have lunch while you were there? My in-laws are forever going for lunch at a whole variety of different garden centres.

Very odd.

pagwatch · 18/06/2009 15:06

Run Bramshott run!

Bramshott · 18/06/2009 16:38

It was also absolutely HEAVING with OAPs having lunch!! I was not tempted .

seeker · 18/06/2009 16:42

I bought one from a service station last year!!!!!!!!

Fimbo · 19/06/2009 10:37

Our local garden centre is heaving on a Sunday with OAPS queuing for their sunday roast.

TheYearOfTheCatMPADist · 19/06/2009 22:04

Fimbo, admitting to knowing that you even have a local garden centre is the start of a slippery slope.

Babbity · 19/06/2009 22:09

You can buy Joules in my local garden centre - it's not too bad, actually.

Galava · 19/06/2009 23:07

No, its not a sign of middle age approaching

its full on old age, what on earth are you thinking ?!

MaggieBeau · 19/06/2009 23:10

why don't you buy a coat from landsend like I did once!! they will send you emails for the rest of your life, reminding you what an old goat you were to have bought one of their coats!!

MaggieBeau · 19/06/2009 23:11

ps, often I check my mails and only landsend have emailed me, so i spose i shouldn't complain! good job i bought that coat.

controlfreakythecontrolfreak · 19/06/2009 23:13

only read op..... more like a sign of imminent death i fear...

biffandchip · 19/06/2009 23:39

Oh Yes (in the voice of that talking insurance dog off tv) definitely a sign. Stay Away from the garden centre!

iheartdusty · 19/06/2009 23:51

haven't they got it in a nice beige?

Katisha · 20/06/2009 00:52

Hmmm. And I was a bit worried to find myself thinking that some of the clothes in Milletts were quite nice...

tigerdriver · 20/06/2009 00:56

oh dear, this is serious. stay away from garden centres and Stow on the Wold (aka pensioner heaven). and don't read all those ads in the back pages of the weekend papers. Next thing you know you'll accidentally have a stairlift, just in case.
