Does anyone want to join me in giving themselves a DIY extreme makeover?

No, not literally, we won't be doing our own liposuction with straws, or posting messages like, "Keen sewers: I was trying to give myself a lower-body lift but can't reach to sew up the back", or anything.

But does anyone else feel hideous? I do and I'm sure it's at the root of almost all my problems (low self-esteem being the main one).

I need to diet, get hair cut, sort out flattering clothes and ditch fugly stuff, stop biting my nails!, get pedicure, keep up to date on fake-tanning... all that.

Does anyone want to join in? If we were very brave we could post "Before" photos in our profiles then invent a month-long makeover plan, then do "After" pictures, but that might be a bit scary.

We need to ge up earlier and prioritise doing our make-up! And do a beauty treatment three times a week (body scrub, face pack, hair conditioning treatment, etc) just to nourish our Inner Temptresses.

I know it's non-PC to long to look gorgeous, but I'm fed up looking fat and frumpy and desperately need to reinvent myself! am i alone in feeling like this?

I know the awful irony of having a vain log-in name and posting this message, btw.

ooooooo- I wish I found this thread before!
I have banned the word diet and instead have adopted a healthy eating plan. Lots of veg, fruit, fish and lean meat. I drink water and green tea but allow myself the occasional treat to stave off boredom. Think meditteranean diet and long term health rather than short term hell.

I hope that once I sort my food out I will feel beautiful within!

Am dithering about hair and colour and style. I'm tempted to grow out highlights but will be blah in the meantime. What a cool thread beautiful!

lilacclaire · 05/07/2009 20:05

Me too PoshSingleMum, Im trying to get as much fruit and veg down as possible, focussing on nutrients rather than dieting (just as well with the amount of oil that I put in my stir fry tonight).

I need to put the driclor stuff on again tonight, am starting to sweat in this heat!

Am off to buy some cheap bright white tight t shirst tommorow from primark, I think bright white always looks really good, especially against (fake) tan and at only £3 a pop!

ZZMum · 05/07/2009 20:57

OK so after a quick burst of enthusiasm, it all fell apart and I am back looking as bad as I did at the start - how do you keep the motivation going?

Beautiful - am interested in how you're getting on with the Frownies? Are they worth getting ..

I am trying again tonight - full works in bath - facial and complete shave and body cream..

Thrown out a load of old clothes today and am going to focus on a capsule wardrobe of good stuff only so that might help me avoid the god awful outfits I have been seen out in recently!

well done to everyone else - I guess reading this thread is the motivation I need..

I think that setting aside one evening a week as dedicated beauty time helps keep on track. That way you're at least maintaining and may even be inspired to keep up the good work.

Well done on throwing out old clothes ZZMum

We all need some more 5 min beauty challenges. Everyone go paint your nails and report back what colour you're wearing!

Walkingwiththighosaurs · 07/07/2009 12:02

Might give that one a miss frakkin. I MUST stop biting them!

frAKKINPannikin · 07/07/2009 13:11

Specially for walking - paint them with horrible tasting anti-biting stuff!

Walkingwiththighosaurs · 08/07/2009 15:31

Believe me I've tried them all, you just aquire a taste of the stuff I did actually grow them about two years ago and they looked beautiful. But eventually they got bitten off again.

frAKKINPannikin · 09/07/2009 13:40

Oh ick! I can't stand the taste of it.

What about having them 'done' - gel or similar?

Princeonthemove · 09/07/2009 18:16

This thread is so brilliant. It is informative as well as hilarious....I love it.

I am going to tackle clothes...one question, though. What does one do about the stuff I would call 'emotional clothes'-like a dress I had when I was a teenager, or the jumper I want to keep for my (not-yet-born-or-even-conceived-yet) daughter? I seem to have loads of this stuff clogging up my wardrobe.

Walkingwiththighosaurs · 14/07/2009 12:47

Oh has everyone gone!

Helloooooooooooo anyone there!

I was really enjoying this thread.

BEAUTlFUL · 16/07/2009 13:16

HELLO. Has everyone left forever? I must admit I thought I'd got gorgeous and had a wonderful, wonderful weekend at a big family party feeling stunning, then saw the photos afterwards and felt hideous*. That sent me down a self-hatred spiral, then I slapped myself last night & reminded self it's only 15 mins a day, and so I'm back.

Shall we restart? When i was doing this before i felt happier, more positive, more active, younger and sassier. The past two weeks of ugliness have taken me right back to misery!

I will restart if anyone wants to, WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!
