What is the fashionable male wearing to summer weddings this year?

DH hasn't a clue, I want him to look nice and smart without breaking the bank. Answers on a virtual postcard please

Linen suit is nice and comfortable for summer but can be pricey.

Cotton/linen mix looks just as nice but a bit softer, cheaper and harder wearing.

If you are travelling then you may want to change on arrival and/or avoid linen. As ABetaDAd says cotton/linen mix has some advantages, including (ime) slightly more crease resistant.

I think very white shirt and very cool sunglasses does the trick. Men are very fortunate in this respect.

Pale Linen suit and a pale blue shirt - DH's summer wedding look and he does look scrummy!

That is a very good point about getting changed when you get there. Sitting down in linen trousers in a hot sweaty car/train just ruins the effect. The creases stay all day.

Anoter thing which is an idea is to wear a dark charcoal grey coloured suit (with a nice crisp white cotton shirt) in one of the light wool 'performance fabrics' with a twisted weave that is quite crease resistant than a lot of Italian men wear in hot weather.

Then it can be used as a summer work suit afterwards to spread the cost.

Much as it pains me I'm agreeing with ABeta in that a suit and nice shirt is what to wear. It's not fancy dress, you don't want to look like member of McFly in the photos.
After all, if your dw can moan about the anguish of heels and impracticalities of a dress, take her hand, stick it up the back of your shirt and let her feel your sweat for timeless fashion.

Yes I just hate that 'sweaty back' at a summer wedding feeling too...yuuuuk. It almost defines the entire male experience.

Tis all in the cut and quality of the fabric. Cheap suits make for cheap looking men.......imo. You need to find the cut which suits and flatters your shape.

Agree with ABetaDad about light wool suit as good alternative although PLEASE be careful with your choice of shirt. I detest that "standard work shirt without tie" look. Yuck. Detest white "work" shirts full stop. Again, go to somewhere like Paul Smith, Thomas Pink or TM Lewin and try on an assortment of shirts with differing collars (try Prince of Wales for non-tie wearing option) and differing cuts (slim fitting is invariably more flattering even if you are worried about Dad Belly).

Yes, a vote her for thomas pink shirts.. Dh wears them for work but I must admit they are lovely and not your "usual" shirt.

Quite tall, very broad shoulders, bit of a belly (but not huge lol), small bum, nice legs. Sort of an inverted triangle I think ;)

He finds Paul Smith are the best fit for suits. Paul Smith suits tend to be a slim fit and he wouldn't have even tried it before (not being of Paul Weller-esque physique). However, the mistake most broader shouldered men make is to go for a looser cut suit, (often with pleat front trousers). This serves to make their ass look five times its natural size and buries their lovely legs in acres of fabric. A slim fit will make the most of their top half and balance it out with their now gorgeously adorned bottom half .

His linen/cotton suit is from Jaeger (they often have a sale in the menswear department so worth a look).

Also, worth looking in Austin Reed. I don't think they are having the best of years, as they seem to have had a permanent sale since last summer.
