What make up do you normally use? all cheaper in NY, I bought Bobby Brown and a whole order of Mac for a friend

I'm a make up slut, I'll use anything. Is BB and Mac much cheaper?

Pretty much all make-up is cheaper there. Does depend on the exchange rate though.

Have a fab time in NYC

Thanks I'll try my best

Agree, all makeup and beauty products are cheaper - the Mac stuff was half the price but again depends on exchange rate.
God I'm jealous, I love NY
What else do you have on the shopping list?

cocolepew · 14/06/2009 17:59

The exchange rate isn't great, but it has improved over the last couple of weeks.

I'm going to look for Converse and Birkies to see the price, and Advil . I read a lot of American crime books and this seems to be the painkiller the Detectives always us. I know I'm sad.

go to one of those massive cheap chemists (or drug stores) and stock up on Carmex lip balm is super cheap there and expensive here and the best...and get a frozen fresh strawberry margerita at a mexican restaurant...mmmm. and go to the cloisters museum...ok ok .

Lancome do a mascara that oscillates, not sure if they do it over here but I bought it in NY about 6 months ago. It is fab!

Have a great time

Do you like Sketchers? They are a good bargain in the states.

Ohhh am so jealous - I lived in NY till last September and am missing the cheap makeup and clothes.

I'm currently very annoyed at the fact that the same pair of Paige jeans cost 169 pounds over here, and 179 dollars over there - how unfair! Definitely go to Anthropologie on Fifth Avenue too - wonderful clothes.

As for makeup - just go to Sephora (loads of them in NYC but the flagship one is on Fifth Avenue) and all the big brands are there - or go to Saks if you want a slightly higher class department store experience! All brands will be cheaper over there.

As for Advil - it's just Ibuprofen! And certainly no cheaper than the unbranded type...

David Z is a good shoe store for brand names (I bought ugg boots here and they had loads of different colours, don't know if they'll have many at this time of year though) - on fifth avenue on the right hand side near 34th street before you turn right to Macys
