What's happened to the quality at Gap, La redoute, etc...is it me??

Recently, well for at least 6 months, our g
Gap has been filled with absolute rubbish, cheaply made, shapeless tat that has no style or quality about it and is all at sale prices. Has something happened? Are they clearing some huge warehouse out, or about to close down or something? It used to be so nice in there

La redoute has also turned into a seeming jumble sale of badly made rubbish...what's going on? I just ordered four things from LR and have had to send back ALL of them - even a simple vest top that looks fine when you unwrap it, you try it on and the hems are made without any elastic, so the thread cuts into you what's that about?

I agree with you on Gap Bionicle, normally I want to buy the whole shop for both me and DD's but recently had 30% off voucher and couldn't find a thing to use it on. Women's stuff seems more expensive too. Maybe this is result of weak pound/materials and labour getting more expensive?

Hoping that they get better for Winter as I don't know where else I would go for cosy jumpers!

Oh good, not just me!!

I've decided to abandon Gap in favour of Kew for the time being...any excuse

Gap quality has deffo gone down. I bought two t-shirts a month or two ago and after their first wash they had gone all saggy around the neck.

Their cotton trousers seem to be much more cheaply made as well: they pick up a lot of fluff and the knees seem to go baggy very quickly.

Haven't bought anything in gap for myself in over a year as the quality/style is rubbish.

Children's still ok although the knitwear never holds its shape.

BionicleBill · 14/06/2009 16:52

Oh Golly Jane the fluff!! Exactly! I bought some very nice black cotton trews the other day which were down to a tenner, and thought the fluff would stop once they were washed, but it is still there! what is that about?

I agree Tracey the childrens' stuff isn't ALL rubbish but most of it is much plainer and more, erm, boring than it used to be...anyone remember the 99p sale rails from circa 2003? Brilliant little clothes...I must have stocked up in advance to about age 7 for ds1, I was pregnant at the time

Glad I did now as ds2 is wearing it all.

I'm quite happy with Gap baby and toddler wear. I've never actually had a very high opinion of their womenswear quality but it's certainly not been good lately.
