does anyone know where I might find a perfume that has been discontinued? (not ebay)

I adore sheer scent by ULTIMA and as I am coming to the end of my last bottle, decided to go to the big Boots to get some more.

Horrified to learn that is has been discontinued - a while ago apparently, so I am gutted.

Had a look on ebay and bottles are going for stupid prices.

Could any of you S&B eagle eyes help me in my mission to find some?

this is it

I think there are a lot of US websites where you can hunt out discontinued lines but if you've tried e-bay, you must have come across some of these. I've never tried that route, personally.

I used to love Elizabeth Arden's "Eau Fraiche". When that was discontinued I was overjoyed to discover a load in T K Maxx, at a massively reduced price.

I had the same situation with Fifth Avenue from Elizabeth Arden. Absolutely adore it and they've discontinued it. Now everyone buys it for me if they see a stray bottle anywhere, so I have about 6 bottles waiting to be used but have to be aware of the fact that, as they stopped making it, these bottles are getting on a bit and perfume goes off.

EyeballshasBackBoobs · 12/06/2009 00:27

Hang on, scrap that, it's back on their website!

lambanana · 12/06/2009 19:38

Thanks for that!

I had a look in TK MAXX today - no joy.

I am not that hopeful of finding any TBH and after looking on the internet it seems I am not the only outraged one! There are forums dedicated to finding it!

Omg that is/was my all time favourite perfume - everyone used to comment on it all the time but I ran out of it years ago . I have also been searching for it for years but have never found it. You MUST update if you do - am now off to search out the forum you mentioned.

What about writing to the perfume house?? I did this with lancome a few years ago and they sent me 5 bottles of a discontinued fragrance for about £10.

bluebump · 12/06/2009 20:19

I had this problem when they discontinued mine - I found it in a tiny airport in Spain and bought up a couple of bottles!

hippopotamouse · 12/06/2009 20:23

Eyeballs I used to work in Semi-Chem and they have it in stock all the time and will not be discontinuing as far as I know. They have a website now so if you're not in Scotland then you can order here

hippopotamouse · 12/06/2009 20:24

OP I have never heard of that one so can't help, sorry! Might be worthwhile checking Savers, Bodycare, and Watt Brothers too.

lambanana · 12/06/2009 22:26

Hippo - cheers ears!

Moonshine - isn't it divine!

And yes same here - loads of comments. I had 2 bottles so only just coming to the end - boo hoo!

forum here

PS Gucci did it with No3 perfume - another one I adored.

I think you can still get it in USA and some places in Spain.

Oh yeah and while I think on I used to love Flamingo Fancy body lotion by benefit and they bloody discontinued that!

Hmm I think it's a conspiracy against lambanana's!

I absolutely loved Issey Miyake Le Feu D'Issey, but they discontinued it. My Mum goes on holiday quite a bit and managed to get me a couple of bottles from tiny perfume shops. They're long gone now though and I've never quite found anything to replace it yet.

moonshine · 13/06/2009 12:43

lambanana - you've revived my desire for it now so have been scouring the Net - to no available but have read in a few places that Dior's Fahrenheit is very similar, which would make sense as it was quite masculine and clean-smelling - have you ever tried it? I think I will have to go have a squirt now...

lambanana · 13/06/2009 13:11

No moonshine I ain't smelt farenheit but will have a try next time I go to town and give you my verdict.

I think that's why I love sheer scent because it is very aftershavey! You smell like you have just been with a man ha ha!

I am off to Spain next week so will have a good look in all the shops.

If I see any I will get you a bottle!

Omg if you do I will be your eternal slave...

expatinscotland · 13/06/2009 23:51

I used to love New West for women.

moonshine · 15/06/2009 22:26

I am reporting back on Fahrenheit. When I sniffed it in the bottle I got very excited as it did smell like Ultima but when I actually squirted some on I smelt like I'd been sitting in a smokey pub all night - so that's a no from me then on smell-a-likeyness [v disappointed emoticon].
