Evening all,

I wonder if you can help me please... I am getting my daughters christened; one nearly a year and the other 11 years old and am wondering what to dress them in.

Question is what do they both wear, church have said you don't have to wear a white dress, would a normal pretty dress be sufficient for both of them. Think it might appear odd if younger daughter wears white and not 11 year old. And then think if 11 year old wears one it will look like a confirmation or wedding dress... Any advice gratefully received as husband is not helping at all! Thanks very much.

I don't think it'd do any harm if they both wore white, but what does the 11yo want to wear? I'd probably dress the baby in white, and let the 11yo wear what she would like, within reason. I wouldn't try to dress them the same.

My daughter wore an ivory bridesmaid's dress when she made her first communion. Yes it looked very "bridey", but she liked it, and so did I, so everyone was happy.

what about something like this dress it's white but not weddingy IYSWIM

That's a pretty dress Sparkle and Shine.

My daughter wants to wear a navy blue and white dress which has spots on - which is very church like.

Yes I would like to dress my youngest in white but was worrying whether it would look odd that the oldest was not wearing white. Also costs for this christening are going up and up and my oldest already has the spotty one.

Thanks for you help - anymore tips very welcome!
