Has anyone got any experience of semi-permanent makeup? Would like to hear how people have got on with this.

Please tell me more Ruby. Am considering eyeliner. How long has it lasted? Was it painful/unsightly at first?

And, by the way, how are you getting on with your wii training? I'm ashamed to admit that my children are getting more use out of it than I am.

Sounds like me! Feeling very guilty after they sent an email yesterday asking for more updates! Am rather busy at the moment though...

The lady I have found is very experienced. She did a patch test on me yesterday but it was behind my ear and I can't see what it looks like. I know it won't be comfortable, but she does ues an anaesthetic. The thing that worries me about what you say is the redness when it fades. Does your SIL find this?

I had eyeliner tatooed on top and bottom of my eyes (obviously) about 2 months ago, and feel really disappointed with the results. I had visions of being able to "get up and go" in the mornings without faffing about with makeup (rightly, or wrongly, I can't bring myself to go out without any on for fear of being mistaken for a man). You can barely tell that there's anything at all on the top lid, and although you can see it underneath the eye, I don't feel its enough to justify going without additional eyeliner. The procedure itself was uncomfortable even though she did use anaesthetic cream, particularly underneath the lid, because its difficult to put the cream in the exact right place without it actually going into the eye. In fact, the first time, it did go into my eye and hurt like buggery. You have to go for two applications as after the first session, lots of it flakes off, so you have to suffer the procedure twice, and the ensuing swollen red eyes, although they did go back to normal after 4/5 days. On the 2nd session I asked her to make the liner on the upper lid more obvious, and she supposedly did, but like I said, you can hardly tell its there at all. I just feel that its all been a bit of a waste of time - and a lot of a waste of money, which I feel very guilty about. I suppose results on eyebrows or lips would be more noticeable - but maybe more obvious looking? Let us know how it goes for you.

Hi Shandy - thanks for sharing!

I've got it booked for Monday and I'm getting VERY nervous about it now - dh doesn't want me to get it done. Without naming names on here, could you tell me where the person was who did yours?

Hi Foofi, the person I went to was near Slough.I'm not necessarily sure she did a bad job, I think its more that I had different expectations if you see what I mean. She was certainly very professional, hygienic, competent etc. I did look at a lot of before and after pictures of other clients who had had the same thing done, and it did seem that their procedures were more noticeable than mine - but you might not think that "noticeable" is a good thing?

Anyway, if I could afford to spend the money, I might go back in a couple of years time or whenever the current eyeliner has faded, but perhaps try someone else just to see if that made a difference - so I don't want to put you off. Your experience will probably be totally different - and I would love to hear how it went. Good luck.

I had my upper and lower eyeliner done by hand (one prick at a time!) hurt like hell in asia but was nearly 20 years ago and still looks good! I had this done over 5 appointments over a number of weeks so maybe that's why it's stuck! So shandy maybe a couple more sessions might make the difference?

Echoing others yes find someone experienced even if it costs more!

taokiddy · 04/08/2012 20:09

Had my eyebrows done just over a year ago and wish I'd had it done ages ago. They were a bit too dark to start with but looked softer if I wore foundation. Perfect now. Just makes such a difference. It was quite costly but then I always spent a fortune on having them dyed. Go for it Smile

Has anyone had this done anywhere near Bath / Bristol? Thanks! Smile

I also had my upper and lower eyelids done, it was fantastic! I loved it! It did hurt at the time but I soon forgot about it! It's almost 10 years ago now and it's almost disappeared but would love to have it done again! I still used to apply extra eyeliner most days and especially if going out but for the beach, gym, swimming, first morning with a new fella- it was fantastic!

Elsi, there's a lady called Theresa Wild who does it in Salisbury.
Her website looks great, she's always updating her Facebook page with recent work of hers and she's doing an eyebrow offer at the mo for £249.
