So, if you were getting an "investment" handbag, what would you get?

I've been contemplating this, because I'm sick and tired of buying rubbish bags that die within a year. So, the original plan was to get a Mulberry Bayswater (after I finish paying off a massive loan), but now I'm wondering what else is out there.

I want something that will:

  • Last a while
  • Can hold lots of useless tat posessions
  • Is smart enough for work
  • And works with a wardrobe that is mostly in blues and greens.

What would you get if you could?

Joliejolie- I know, I wish I'd never looked at the site now or I'd be none the wiser

They are really cute though and if they are good quality, who cares?

Spending 100s of £££ on a handbag is just so wrong. And stupid.

howtotellmum · 06/06/2009 21:25

I think Mulberry are a rip off- ok, the bags are nice, but not that nice! It's all about status- put a big enough price tag on it and people want it.

The other thing is- all bags eventually date-so even if you spend £1000 they will look past it in a few years.

I like Rik2(?) and never spend more than about £100.

What about karen millen? Dh bought me one for my birthday 2 years ago (tan satchel) and I still get lots of lovely comments now about it. And mid range pric at about £150..so feels like a luxury but didn't cost thousands.

Although just had a quick look at their website and wasn't that impressed with their current range tbh.

I too just don;t get that sort of money on a handbag. I spend max £50 - usually more like £20 - and have never had a problem with how long they last. I recently finally gave up on a £20-30 ish leather one from accessorise that's so old it doesn;t have a phone pocket. I think it's about 20 years old. it's still not really knackered just a bit dated. I also had another gorgeous soft leather one from Accessorise that people (including blokes funnily enough) used to complement me on - that didn't last quite so long cos I used it tonnes - but I reckon it did 7 years or.

Mmm Fossil-yes-like that in brown!

Mulberry rock!

I'm a bargain hunter at heart though so I stick to factory outlets, sales and buying secondhand.

NationalFlight · 07/06/2009 14:08

I love handbags and have got a few, but tbh if I ever got an 'invesdtment' one I would lose it or have it nicked - so I don't.

Dreaming is allowed though
