Following on from the M&S bra thread which bra brands are best?

I haven't been happy with my the shape of my boobs for a while - thought it was just after effects of bf. But after seeing the thread about M&S bra fitting I went to a little bra shop today - turns out I'm a 32D not a 36C (which M&S had said I was). I bought a fantasie bra which is great but need to splash out on some others.

Which brands does everyone find are the best?

Freya bras are really good. I do think there is a gap in the market for post-pregnancy bras though, I really struggle to find bras which aren't a bit empty at the top after bf'ing 2 children. I read that it's not the bf'ing that does it rather the growth and subsequent deflation during and after pregnancy but surely all that tugging they do once a bit older and easily distracted while still having nipple firmly clamped in mouth can't help!

littlelamb · 26/05/2009 21:35

Bellebelle you need a balconette bra. I agree Freya are really good. I've been on a bra mission in the last few weeks as ds has cut down his feeds so I don't need a nursing bra, and the one bra I had that fit has fallen apart as I was yanking the cups down
Surprisingly enough, after trying on about a million bras in M & S I got this and this and both are a perfect fit. If I weren't a stony hearted old queen I would have wept with joy

Lilymaid · 26/05/2009 21:35

Fantasie are the best according to my bra fitter in John Lewis as they are a "true size". Pros - give you a good shape and are well made Cons - probably a little uncomfortable at first and tend to be very nylony.
I have several Ballet bras because they have a high cotton content, but I don't think they support as well.

YesSirICanBoogie · 26/05/2009 21:37

Panache Superbras are all I wear. Fab fit, supportive and quite pretty.

CMOTdibbler · 26/05/2009 21:38

I am currently loving my Elle McPherson bras - a fab balconette which gives me a lovely shape.

The best brand is different for each person - just depends on your particular shape I think

The best seemfree bra for wearing under tight tshirts is imotriumphand supremely comfortable.

bebesequin · 26/05/2009 21:55

I have never fitted into M&s bras -I would vote for elle macpherson for good undies and lejebay or next for every day.Gorgeous stuff at figleaves but never ordered

OllieWollieWoo · 26/05/2009 22:21

What are Triumph bras like? Live abroad so no access to John Lewis etc and desperately need new bras! A Triumph stores has opened nearby but always think of them as being frumpy? Are they any good?

VinoEsmeralda · 26/05/2009 22:24

Huit are very good and Marie Jo and Marlies Dekkers are good too.

KatyMac · 26/05/2009 22:25

def freya

CHOOGIRL · 26/05/2009 22:26

Elixir de Lejaby from R&P. Great colours, fantastic fit. I'm 34E

ClaireDeLoon · 26/05/2009 22:26

Panache or Fantasie.

craftynclothy · 26/05/2009 22:28

Another vote for Freya bras.

pooka · 26/05/2009 22:29

I like Freya and Chantelle (the T-shirty ones).

Used to wear cacherel when was young and had more disposable income. Beautiful beautiful bras. Remember being so sad when my last one gave up the ghost. But they were more balconette in style. A bit low cut (like half cup). Boobs are different now and I need a bit more scaffolding.

Linnet · 26/05/2009 22:31

My new one bought last week is Fantasie, a brand I have bought before and does wonders for my chest just wish they were a tiny bit cheaper.

lucykate · 26/05/2009 22:40

oww, i have 2 triumph bra's, design wise they are ok, but fit wise, i find them really good, very comfy.

i also like charnos and fantasie, but i'm an odd shape. have to go for full cup, rather than balcony style due to a scar from having a cyst removed.

Bellebelle · 26/05/2009 22:46

littlelamb M&S lady told me to avoid balconette bras as I need more support since bf'ing! I shall ignore her advice and begin the search for a balconette bra (makes sense that would work now I think about it).

choogirl I'm 34E too, will make a visit to rigby & peller next time I'm in London.

I am now filled with hope for my poor battered bosoms, thanks ladies

BikeRunSki · 27/05/2009 09:20

Panache, Panache, Panache!

alicecrail · 27/05/2009 09:26

Does anyone have problems with the underwire coming up too high under the arms? Because of this i tend to live in sports bras.
Before having DD it didn't bother me so much, but since my skin has got so sensitive that it gets rubbed raw. I'm a 32E btw

Sorry for hijack

littlelamb · 27/05/2009 12:14

If you have a problem with that you are wearing too big a bra ime. Try a cup size down

themoon66 · 27/05/2009 12:35

Fantasie bras always fit me best. I love the design of Freya ones, but they always seem smaller in the cups than other makes.

KatyMac · 27/05/2009 13:03

Try Freya, alicecrail they are much lower at the side

alicecrail · 27/05/2009 16:51

Thanks. I did try going down a cup size and best fit i got still ends up with overspill - attractive!

PersonalClown · 27/05/2009 16:56

Scarily enough I'm loving the 36G Wonderbra I have on!
Actually makes me look like I don't have a mono-boob!

sfxmum · 27/05/2009 16:57
