MY SECRET WARDROBE

blinks · 23/05/2009 21:07

i'll let you in on my secret wardrobe of 'house clothes'. they are destined never to be seen outside the confines of my house.

  1. old man's dressing gown with frayed cuffs and non matching belt (i own a lovely silky one also but wearing it makes me feel tense).
  1. faded grey lounge trousers that could easily accomodate a full term pregnancy. am very much not pregnant.
  1. comedy t-shirt. from spain.
  1. mystery jumper that i have no recollection of buying or receiving from anyone. it's damn ugly but oh-so-comfy.
  1. cheapo tesco fake uggs (oh the shame).

is it just me and do you all waft around wearing (overpriced) Boden slacks...?

  1. M & S fleece trackbots which have sagged at both the knees and the arse.
  2. Ditto the fuggs, as we call them here.
  3. Any top long enough to cover my tum.

So you're not alone - I live in fear of George Clooney turning up at the door unexpectedly.

NorkilyChallenged · 23/05/2009 22:04

I have disgusting man's dressing gown which is oh-so-comfy too...

And a 20-year-old stripey tshirt that dp once lent me when we were teenagers and that I still find most comfy for sleeping/lounging!

snigger · 23/05/2009 22:08

I have a pair of fleecy pyjamas with a tear around the crotch area that would be pornographic were it not so terrifying.

They are still my mooching around with the hoover garment of choice, and even DH acknowledges that it's taken months of washes to get them so soft, it'd be a waste to bin them now.

I also bogart DH's slippers whenever possible.

I'm an attractive gel.

my main house clothes sin is no bra.. have scared the postman a couple of times and also the window cleaner. Huge tits should be strapped in more often.

cocolepew · 23/05/2009 22:13

Crappy trackie bottoms, slippers and grey hoodie.

They are known, in this household, as Comfty Clothes.

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 23/05/2009 22:14

My thing is a pair of pin striped Next maternity trousers. They are the most comfortable item of clothing that fits me atm.

smugmumofboys · 23/05/2009 22:18

M&S fake uggs - vvv toasty.

An ancient mahoosive man's dressing gown that is snuggly and comfy.

A pair of holey tracky bums.

Classy lady.

blinks · 23/05/2009 22:19

aha cocolepew... i call them my 'comfies'.

like Greyskull, my bra is also flung off, my breasts roam free.

it's liberating wearing tramp like clothing innit yet bizarrely shameful.

pin stripe trousers sound very 'boardroom' SOLO. i'm impressed.

An old jersey maternity dress (youngest is 2!)
with acomfy cardi over the top
Only worn once visitors have left!

PlumpRumpSoggyBaps · 23/05/2009 22:30

I'm also a bra flinger, though I recently rediscovered the soft sleep bras I had when I was pregnant- like little crop tops. Super comfy.

Also Tesco's tracky bottoms and a pair of really disgusting slippers that are so baggy I can only wear them with socks.

Fortunately for me DH lounges around in just his pants so I look positively sartorial in comparison.

themoon66 · 23/05/2009 22:31

socks and ugg type slippers

Old gap jeans 2 sizes too big with ripped waistband and half the fly buttons gone

old t-shirts with saggy seams

ancient purple sweat shirt with hood circa 1986 with bleach stains.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 23/05/2009 22:32

ooh Plup, they sound great - do they handle larger sizes?

blinks · 23/05/2009 22:40

where does one get her hands on soft sleep bras Plump?

i got velour tracksuit i wear in house, and its white ... chavtastic!

cyteen · 23/05/2009 22:48

Not so much a particular outfit, but my shameful loungewear of choice is simply not getting washed or dressed in the morning and thus spending all day with grungy face, bed hair, ancient mismatched pyjamas and deathtrap sheepskin slippers I don't go up the shops like this though much.

teafortwo · 23/05/2009 22:49

Secret wardrobe - excellent thread idea Blinks!!!!

In my secret wardrobe you will find.....

Hospital scrubs that my sister liberated for me when she was a student nurse and on a theatre placement. The idea was they were for me to wear for a dress up day at work.

I absolutely treasure them! When I lived in the UK I used to wear my scrubs once a week to....

Watch Holby City in of course!!!!!!!!!!

MumHadEnough · 23/05/2009 23:15

I don't have anything really nasty but I do have three pairs of grey ikea jammies which are the best thing ever. However, if the neighbours etc see me (sneaking out to bin/car etc) they must think I'm a right clatty cow who never changes her jammies.

I insisted on three pairs as I never ever want to be without them in my life again. Sad, yes I know!

blinks · 23/05/2009 23:41

that's quite moving mumhadenough.

teafortwo · 23/05/2009 23:50

Ikea do pjs???

Surely worth a link, mumhadenough, peeerlease????

Since typing my own 'secret warderobe' post I realized that my confession doesn't really count as a secret wardrobe as I have often worn my scrubs in a showy off kind of way when sleeping at other peoples houses and once wore them for staff to see on a school trip too. Plus I mention them on mn as often as possible. So I don't think they really count.

tigana · 24/05/2009 00:03

I have hideous 'sleepwear'. PJ trousers not so bad, but on top I have oooooold long sleeve tops that have turned oddly grey/bad neckline/got paint on them etc.

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 24/05/2009 00:55

Ditto Cyteen......altho......I do have an XL size "Kangaroo Poo" sweatshirt (from my backpacking around Oz/student days) that I love to snuggle up in on winter nights or days when I am feeling not so well

Dilettante · 24/05/2009 01:04

My "uniform" consists of assorted pairs of Nick and Nora PJ bottoms, all in varying states of washed-to-softness and quite tasteless and loud...Sloggi soft bra top...vest...adidas/nike hoody.

The problem is today someone came to the door and I was frozen like a rabbit in the headlights, too ashamed to answer the door in my PJ bottoms at 12.30pm
