I'm thinking about having this done as I waste so much time in mornings drying and straightening my hair. Has anyone had this done? Any good? Thanks!

is this the chemical straightening?

nancy75 · 22/05/2009 21:59

friend had it done, it was very good but cost £££££!

Lulumama · 22/05/2009 22:02

i am having it done in a couple of weeks.... i am a tiny bit nervous....so shall wait and see what people say

my hair is v fine and some bits quite damaged.but the daily blowdrying and straightening is ruining it more , also, my hair does not hang in a style, i wear it tied up almost every day so am hoping i can actually hve a hair style

I'm not sure if this is the same one I had, but I paid to have my hair straightened "semi permanently" when I was working in Jersey. It really wasn't terribly effective and my hair still needed to be blow dried with straightening tongs every time it was washed. Mind you, I have very curly Mediterranean hair.

I had this and it was rubbish - didn't work at all on my hair, although a friend also had it done and it looks fab. Costs about £200-£300 depending on length of hair.

I had it done at Errol Douglas in London so was ridiculously expensive (500 quid maybe) but bloody brilliant.

At the time I was spending up to 50 quid a week getting my hair blow dried for nights out (have frizzy half Afro curls) so over 3 months I'd saved the same money.

Cost depends on length of your hair as I recall.

Have had it done 3 more times since while I lived in New York - none were as good as Errol Douglas, so the results do depend on how good the technician is.

Norkybutnice- Have you tried a haircare range called Mixed Chicks?

MrsAlwaysRight · 23/05/2009 20:31

Thanks for replies. It is a type of permanent straightening. Lulumama please could you report back once you've had it done? Am willing to pay ££££ if it sorts my barnet out!

I've had it done. It's fab but as others have said very expensive. Takes ages too but lasts longer than other treatments and leaves hair shiny. It will be poker straight though.

Also had Brazilian Keratin treatment. Not that impressed with it.

Extenso isn't bad either - a bit cheaper than Yuko.

Overall, chemical hair straightening is great imho if you have tricky frizzy hair and makes life (well, hair styling at least) so much easier.
