150 quid in Liberty vouchers and yet...

Sycamoretree · 21/05/2009 22:04

It appears I actually still cant afford any of their clothes...

Unless I would like a t-shirt for 100 quid

I spent an hour and half roaming around aimlessly turning over price tags and then picking my jaw up off the floor.

I was SO looking forward to browsing with some actual money in my pocket (birthday gift from super kind friends who clubbed together). I mistakenly thought I'd be trotting out of there with some piece of knitwear that would last a lifetime....

Not so. You wouldn't think we're in the middle of a recession...

Was this the right place to post this? Did not obviously DARE put it in AIBU

Could you not wait for the sale&?

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 21/05/2009 22:06

Not sure where the & came from

Sycamoretree · 21/05/2009 22:09

Actually, they did have a sale section but it was small and erm, wierd.

Yes, I will have to put my little pouch of gold coins back in my pocket where they will burn, nay scorch a hole until a proper sale comes along.

How bloody frustrating!

Yup! Be careful not to spend it on any old crap aswell. Just because it's on sale it doesn't mean it's nice and cheap!
Wait for the summer sale, won't be long

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 21/05/2009 22:13

ohh, nice!

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 21/05/2009 22:17

put an extra £5 and get this! It's fab! I may order one for me

Sycamoretree · 21/05/2009 22:19

OMG I SOOO needed you with me today!

I love that Anglomania dress! I looked at a few things but they were so $$$$ I couldn't imagine there would be anything on the rack within budget.

Their lamp-shades, perfume and purses will be purchasable, though. And they have a lovely new pictures section on the top floor ... .

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 21/05/2009 22:23

It's lovely! I want one! Check the site out, print a picture and take it with you. Problem solved!

Sycamoretree · 21/05/2009 22:28

I never thought to look at the site - so much easier than browsing the store!

I did think about the perfume etc angle cherry, but to be honest I just don't really need anything like that.

I was just really looking forward to treating myself to a quality item of clothing.

Have seen so much to get excited about online! Must off to bed now though as DS gave us only 3 hours sleep last night and DH is giving me the hard stare and has gone upstairs taking my ovaltine with him

Thanks ladies.

I LOVE Anglomania. Problem solved . Lucky you.

Sycamoretree · 21/05/2009 22:31

I will just have to see what post c-section x 2 stomach looks like in it...

Here's hoping quality equals hiding multitude of sins.

But for that dress, I may consider sit ups.

ooh this is nice

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 21/05/2009 22:38

WOW!

LetThemEatCake · 21/05/2009 23:57

so very very {envy]

Liberty is my favourite place in the world, pretty much. Well, in London, anyway.

£150 to spend, lucky girl.

The other thing you could do is to save up to add to that amount? I do this 'surreptitious saving" thing (so that I barely notice I'm doing it) - every time I get a £2 coin, I stash it in a box in my knicker drawer.

Then when I want something nice, I check out my stash and invariably have a good £50-£60 to put towards it ... and all without me really making a conscious effort to save. It's kind of like a game.

It sounds really lame.... my mum used to do it with 50cent pieces. I blame/ thank her.

Morecrumbleplease · 22/05/2009 12:13

I wonder if you happened upon the smaller room near one of the lifts where the jeans are? There are usually lots of great things in there for that price. It's the only room I bother with outside the sale.

Sycamoretree · 22/05/2009 12:34

Yes, I did pop in there morecrumble - I think that is where they are currently stocking their sale stuff - with a few other bits.

I liked some of the liberty print cacharel stuff they had and the twentytwelve bits, but of course the stuff I liked was still over budget.

Am armed with some ideas from the website and am hoping to get down there again today!

Of course i will let you all know if I'm successful and will wave said purchase virtually infront of you with air of smugness.

I love Liberty - I got my wedding dress from there.

Go and try on all the Vivienne Westwood stuff - she dresses women so brilliantly and it will last for ever and ever

Wizzska · 22/05/2009 14:30

Oh lucky you, Liberty is my favourite place in London. I used to buy loads of clothes in there before I had kids. The sale won't be long now - I'm eagerly awaiting it too.

Otherwise, the jeansy section and the first room usually have good labels for better prices, Anglomania and Red Label Westwood, See by Chloe, Rutzou, Marlene Berger etc, Velvet.

Sycamoretree · 22/05/2009 16:02

Well ladies, I was down there again this lunchtime.

Tried on the vivienne red dress but it was just a t-shirt material type of thing and it clung in the way only the young and the restless can get away with (every lump and bump showing).

Tried on something FABULOUS by Acne for £160. I'm still thinking abotu it but it had cross over straps at the back and was quite risque down the side around the bust - ie. therefore not something I'd be wearing more than a handful of times a year.

I think I will wait for the sale...I have promised myself I won't buy anything unless I'm completely in love with it.

I did have more fun today though - was quite bold with what I tried on - it's suprising how much nicer stuff can look on your than on the hanger, no?

[Smile] I may not buy that dress now then. Pleased you had fun!
