Have you gokked yourself?

Have you designed your own wardrobe of clothes to fit your shape and your lifestyle?

Would Gok admire your outfit selections on an everyday basis?

um, no. i'm too cautious with what i wear! i think he'd say i looked elegant for work but with what i wear at home...he'd be appalled.
have you?

Flame · 21/05/2009 11:43

Today he would be impressed.

Wrap dress emphasising waist, bump and norks. Great heels to lengthen already long legs.

Podrick · 21/05/2009 16:42

I have tried to Gok myself but I don't wear heels (back trouble) which seems to be a requirement - and I haven't really totally cracked underwear yet either!

You seem to need a lot of statement shoes and bags in your capsule wardrobe!

Yes, I think I have . But Gok may feel differently!

I have worked out which colours are great and which are a total no-no. I know which style of tops, dress or trousers flatter my shape the most.

And I also gave in trying to be something I am not and buy clothes which I love, regardless of fashion. Which means I have everything from funky dress/leggings combos to classic wide-leg navy trousers and twin-sets, with a hefty dose of 50's dresses inbetween Oh and I do love to accessorise or (ahem) "Style it up, Girlfriend"

I cannot do the current Gok thing of only 24 things in the wardrobe though!

tigana · 21/05/2009 16:47

No, because I don't wear scarily brightly coloured wide belts with everything. Urk.

I think I have partially 'Trinny & Susannahed' myself previously and am in process of dragging the 'real me' out of the midst of all that 'flattering, but samey' stuff.

smellyeli · 21/05/2009 16:48

I do occasionally put on my only non-grey bra and stand in front of the mirror saying 'great bangers' but that is as far as it's gone. I could do with being Gokked for work (new job) but still think I'm basically just too fat to look good on a daily basis! (No sympathy please, it's just the truth )

Podrick · 21/05/2009 17:16

But you can't be too fat to be gokked!

Although clearly if you are a perfect size 10/12 it is much easier to find stuff that suits you! There are still plenty of folk who are slim who don't wear flattering clothes though!

gokking seems to involve wearing a garish maxi dress and bursting into tears at ones own gorgeousness. if i wore a maxi dress i would burst into tears for an entirely different reason.

i do love him though.

smellyeli · 21/05/2009 19:59

I have to admit, I did try that high wide belt thing the other day, with a charity shop shirt dress item - and it really did seem to work (from the front at least - I daren't look at myself from the side any more)

Frankly, I can't be arsed to make the daily effort, though. I know I would feel better if I did but I suspect that even if I was properly Gokked, I would end up like one of those women that T and S used to re-visit after totally glamming up, only to find that she was slobbing around in Asda trackie bottoms again.

On a more positive note, do you feel that the maxi dress works for the curvier lady? I'm a bit worried that it would simply draw attention to exactly how much fabric is required to cover me up.

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 21/05/2009 21:06

If you go for an a-line rather than hugely voluminous maxi, then I think they work brilliantly for curvier ladies.

LetThemEatCake · 21/05/2009 21:11

"gokking seems to involve wearing a garish maxi dress and bursting into tears at ones own gorgeousness. if i wore a maxi dress i would burst into tears for an entirely different reason."

LOL.

I think I dress pretty well for my shape/ size/ age/ budget/ taste/ circumstances. Not sure if Gok would agree, think he would insist on more jackets/ belts/ scarves/ statement necklaces - and fewer frocks!! He would probably approve of my mix of high street & designer though.

But no way in hell would I whittle my wardrobe down to 24 pieces. Uh-uh. Gok can take his face-elongating quiff and keep it well away from MY wardrobe, ta very much.
