Feet are square. Need closed in nice black shoes that don't pinch like buggery and don't look ike something my mother wears..
can't find any to fit. Any recommendations?my feet really really hurt. all over. throbbing. am crippled.

I will pay attention to this as well. I am not a burse, but am on my feet all day at work as well.

clarks, esp if you can get active air ones. feel the squidgy-ness of the inner sole before buying.

they may however look like something your mother wears. sorry. but if it's comfort you want...

Pair before these ones were Clarks- fell apart after 2 months. Not happy.

thisisyesterday · 20/05/2009 22:21

oh, you should have taken them back

ProstetnicVogonJeltz · 20/05/2009 22:21

current ones were clarks . and fairly new. won't be wearing them ever again. May sell them to some pervert on e-bay.

I know, but wasn't up to an argument as I had lost receipt. Had paid cash as well.

Footglove shoes.

marks and spencers sell them.

Like wearing slippers

i had a much older version of these

butt-ugly, but the most comfy shoes I've ever worn. and they lasted forever.

thisisyesterday · 20/05/2009 22:25

they do lots of nicer active air ones now though

ProstetnicVogonJeltz · 20/05/2009 22:32

Ecco - or Birkenstocks

can't beat 'em

brimfull · 20/05/2009 22:39

God I feel your pain
I am a nursey as well and have tried 3 pairs of shoes and all are too narrow for my spade like feet.
I also have plantar fasciitis which hurts like buggery atm.

I have a pair of size 6 eeee black lace ups for sale if you are interested.
Can't believe it but they are too small.I wore them around the house thinking they were fine adn when I did a shift in them my toes were banging on the end..i was crippled.
Atm I am wearing ordinary crocs ,which are against policy ,but hey they are the only things I can find that are wide enough.
I am going to ask the ward manager if I would be allowed to wear professional nursey crocs and hopefully get those.

Hello

Following a very achey back, knees (including a knee injury from manoeuvring around beds), hips and feet after 12 hour shifts I invested in some MBTs and noticed a real difference. They are expensive but I bought them 18months ago, have walked MILES in them, and they're still going strong.

lulalullabye · 20/05/2009 22:58

Ok, I have been a nurse for 14 yrs and most of it spent doing 12 hr shifts in emergency. About 4 yrs ago, I bought a pair of leather closed in Birkenstocks, slip on ones and I haven't changed them since. You can get them re corked for about £15 and polish them and they last forever.

If you haven't worn birkenstcks before, you will need to wear them in for a few days but they are so comfortable. They do cost about £60 but are woth every penny and they don't smell either.

smellyeli · 20/05/2009 23:02

Birkies are a bit flat for me, but Merrells worked well. Better with trousers than dresses, really. Footglove just makes me feel like my mother - I can't go there just yet. Although I'm sure I will. You could also try gel insoles with a heel support. Or if you are allowed, MBT's although they are horrendously expensive. I couldn't wear them to work but they are my most comfy shoe and great for back as well as foot pain. Worth every panny.

Or penny, even. Not even drunk - damn.
