Ok, I'm a tadge embarrassed to have to post this question

I'm going out with the girls on Saturday night (pub crawl), their all slim and I will be the biggest there? I'm a 18 top (36E boobs)and a sixteen bottom but they are big on me so can get in some 14's. I'm not fat, but not slim either! I've got a tiny bum and narrow hips, but as Gok says 'a muffin top'!! Not fussed on the top of my arms either! Shoulder length brown straight hair and I'm told I'm attractive (just don't feel it)

I've just split up with my lying cheating husband, were still living in the same house and I want to look bloody fabulous on Saturday!!

I'm so out of touch with what everyone is wearing (never go out really), I'm 39 and feel like an old frump, so ladies give me some ideas of what to wear and what is hot and what is not for a nearly 40 year old!!

I'm so up for a good old flirt and a snog if I'm lucky!! And a fab outfit would be the icing on the cake!! I'm willing to go out and get something new so thats not a problem.

Right find our what the other girls are wearing if you can so if they are all in jeans you can wear jeans.

If you can't find out maybe some very black jeans (so if they are wearing trousers you won't stand out also Black is very classic) Whatever cut suits you. There is lots of oranges around at the minute which would look great. with a pair of Brown wedges or even orange ones if you have the cash.

Failing that how about a really crisp white top with red heels and jeans.

Ooh, I just got some lovely brown wedges with sparkly bits on them, never thought of orange, off to the shops for me on Saturday then!!

Thanks

xx

There must be some more trendy young things out there to advise me??

I would look for tulip dresses/skirts. Because these will balance out your top half, and give you that hourglass shape.

The thing is they are all sleevesless! (and mostly strapless) Would that be an option?

Failing that, maybe teaming a dress with skinny jeans or leggings will give you a fashioanable edge and still look perfectly fine for night out.

I would book yourself a blow dry at your local salon. Nothing makes me feel more fabulous than shiny, swingy hair. Have fun.....

This is lovely, but expensive

If not jeans, I think black or white linen trousers and a nice sleeveless top with a shrug. Can you afford Monsoon? Ridiculously pricy but they give good evening wear. here
M and S have shrug cardis for £12, lots of colours.

IwoulddoDrWho · 21/05/2009 21:35

Have a great night.

mummytowillow · 21/05/2009 21:53

I never thought of Monsoon, I'm loving the Mahiki camisole with either some cream wide leg trousers I've got (never worn)!! Or some black ones, what do you think?

Jewels, the dress is gorgeous but I can afford that, thanks for finding it though!

Agree with Pinner. Wear the cream ones with the brown wedges, and get yourself a new top and a haircut.

Like the Mahiki. Chunky jewellery.
