As Revlon have ever so un-kindly discountinued their lash tint mascara I need to find a new way of perking my eyes up.

Has anyone used the home eyelash dye-ing kits? My eye lashes are dark, but could do with a boost, does the stuff thicken lashes or just dye them? Am I likely to blind myself.

Off to do dinner + shower but will check back later. Thanks in advance.

I use Colorsport from Boots. You do need to do a skin test but it lasts a month easily. You do need to be sober and not full of expresso when you apply but it's fairly easy! Mixing is yucky though.

I was looking at that one in Boots earlier. Obviously the first thing I thought was "I must see what mumsnetters think of them" .

I have been dying my lashes myself for years. It dosent thicken the lashes at all just dyes them. Although it is supposed to last a month it dosent if you have really pale lashes (like mine). Probably lasts longer on darker lashes like yours.

BTW if you have a Bodycare store or a superdrug near you they are almost always much cheaper there.

If you've got a salon supplier near you such as Salon Services you can buy the starter kit which will last you for a year or two at least.
You won't blind yourself if your careful.

Think I use Colorsport from Boots too... (haven't done them in a while..)

My only tip would be to use an old (clean) mascara brush rather than the plastic applicator -it's much easier, and you just do it like you would mascara...

Meglet · 21/05/2009 14:07

cornflakemum that's a good idea I was wondering how it needed to be applied and assumed I'd have big clumps of the stuff on my eyes for 10 mins or so.

Yes def get it from Bodycare if you can. Its about half the price of the expensive brands and is exactly the same stuff.

Tis worth saying you should do a skin test regularly with this stuff. I used it for years and then became allergic suddenly, and had four days of piggy like swollen eyes because of it. Also, baby oil applied on a cotton bud stops the eyelids getting stained if you daub it in the wrong place.
