How old is too old for leggings?

Would you think that 38 is too old for a woman to be wearing black leggings under a long top or dress? It always makes me shudder when I see my mil wearing skinny jeans at age 76, so was wondering which clothes or styles would have an age limit to them?

I sincerely hope not Gloomysue, otherwise we both look too old . I am a recent convert to leggings and I wear them a lot now - especially as weather cannot kick into summer but I am done with wearing opaques until next winter

As long as your bum and a percentage of thigh area are covered then I think its fine.

well I am wearing some footless thick tights under a dress today and I am 43
agree with Mrs JS that as long as a decent percentage of bum and upper thigh are covered they look nice
lods of mums at our school wear them

It depends on your figure. I see teenagers wear them who really shouldn't...if you've got the legs, and providing you wear the right things with them (ie, no high heels and short white jackets as we did in the 80s ) then go for it.

well, I am just a tad over 50, omg did i really put that in print! and last winter I wore black leggings a knee length dress type thing and ugg boots and it looked okay, well i thought so, noone was pointing and lauging in the street anyway

As mentioned earlier, they are so practical under skirts/dresses when opaques are too wintry. I don't have any but I'm going to get some. I am 33, it wouldn't even occur to me as being an issue now or at 38 (I hope) There are styles that I see on the yoots that I wouldn't wear now, mainly because they are a) horrid at any age b) a shape/style/colour that would've looked terrible on me at 18 too. The advantage of being older is having a better sense of what suits you & what you like & the confidence to follow your own taste, no?.
