What's the general opinion on white jeans?

I'm quite tempted. Are they a big no no?

I haven't got a fat arse, if that makes any difference.

Oh I like them too.

I think Uniqlo are US sizes btw so actually up to a 12.

PuppyMonkey · 20/05/2009 14:29

Hmmmmm. So what would UK size 10 be in that list on uniqlo?

I've got four pairs of varying lengths plus two pairs of white linen trousers - and I'm 46! I luurve them. Think I may need Gokking.

squeaver · 20/05/2009 14:31

6, PM - but please don't go ordering anything on my say so...

PuppyMonkey · 20/05/2009 14:33

I won't squeaver - I promise.
Just interested.

Don't think I'm a white linen trousers type of gal, so they would be a no no for me!

I am 5'8" and a size 10 and I love love love mine. I think they look very fresh in summer and are surprisingly easy to wear lots of different ways.

Mine are from Oasis and are a nice straight leg/very tiny bootleg. Flattering on and easy to clean in white wash with sachet of Glowhite stuff.

Go and try some with some flip flops/ sandals and summery tops and see what you think.

womma · 20/05/2009 14:48

Fine if you're Liz Hurley or live in SW3.

Bettymum · 20/05/2009 15:03

I got a pair last summer for going to the South of France - we had rain and fog for two weeks so I never got to wear them .
I was surprised how much I wore them in the UK when I got back though, they were great. The only thing is you do have to chuck them in the wash after every wear. Mine are kind of straight leg I suppose and not too thick, I'm 5'6" and size 8 and most definitely not a Liz Hurley lookalike.

paisleyleaf · 20/05/2009 15:08

I'm a bit of anyone who can wear them
(I'd look like Fimbo's link)

Joggler · 20/05/2009 16:02

these?

Fimbo · 20/05/2009 16:11

No, look they are wrinkling round the zip/crotch.

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 20/05/2009 16:11

Where did you find that picture of me, Fimbo? Have I been papped?

Fimbo · 20/05/2009 16:15

These.

Lol Lewis, it is amazing, you must have so many doubles out there! .

What I hate most about most white trousers (not jeans) is when you can see the persons bum wobbling about like jelly and the line of the g-string, garotting them. Yuk

Joggler · 20/05/2009 16:16

not if they are thick cotton

Fimbo · 20/05/2009 16:19

I can imagine you would look good in them Jog. I would look like a sack of tatties as we say in Scotland.

traceybath · 20/05/2009 18:18

God, i love white jeans and like joggler have about 5 pairs.

I actually think they're flattering but am normally when pregnant fairly slim - well my legs are anyway.

They're also ideal for english summers - ie, they look summery but keep you warm.

I have a toddler and a 4 year old and baby due soon but will still wear them - just wash them lots with vanish.

mascaraohara · 20/05/2009 18:22

I tried on several pairs at the weekend.. they all were hideous.

jury's out for me but I do honestly think they add lbs and lbs.. so possible good if you're a skinny minny waif-y build but no if you're curvy (like me)

Wuxiapian · 20/05/2009 19:12

I'm no skinny minnie - 5'5, 10st 7lbs, and have white linen trousers and don't think they look too bad at all.

I wear them with vest tops and little cardigans and heels.

georgiemum · 20/05/2009 19:15

Children + white clothing of any kind = disaster.

I remember my brother in law used to wear them in the 1980s and he wasn't too happy when my nieces nappy exploded when she was sitting on his lap. Ah well, at least her constipation had finished.

mascaraohara · 20/05/2009 19:17

I wear white linen, I think they look v nice in summer
